Quoted from Pickle:I think we can agree the more issues that people report it is quite clear the problem is bigger than we may think.....pinside is a small sample of NIB sales. The silence from Stern tells me they may still be figuring out the cause of the issue and are still working to fix it in new playfields moving forward. I am sure this point has been made already and until that happens they have no "fix" for consumers with playfield issues.
I don't know Stern's finances and if they could absorb the cost to do playfield swaps for everyone.....new playfields sent out perhaps. Now another aspect is I bet Stern has good insurance and contracts with suppliers. If the playfields were supplied and not made by Stern there is a good chance the cost of warranty claims (should Stern accept them) will be absorbed by the supplier and partially by Stern. This is how many businesses operate. Not good for the playfield supplier if that is the case.....but they should have insurance to protect their business as well......It is amazing the insurance policies that business can buy to cover their ass.....
"Faulty workmanship" is an exclusion under all liability policies. No policy will just pay for crap work you do - Also product iability excludes "your product" itself. Only covers damage or injury your product causes to others or their property. They may have a special policy to cover warranty claims but doubtful. A typical commercial policy will not cover.
