I had equipment that was specifically affected by that defect (If I recall, it was the BGA soldering underneath the chip for the HDMI). They send packaging to my front door, with prepaid postage, and scheduled another pickup from my front door when I was ready. They even gave me the option of free repair or full credit applied to a new purchase.
....that program was done really well, but it took some digging to find it.

....kinda sounds like Stern. All we are missing is them stepping up to the plate under pressure.
