I logged out and logged back in on my PC and the site is now incredibly slow with what appears to be no CSS. It happened immediately when I clicked log out. It's fine on my phone which I never logged out on.

Great Job Robin, I love the new look and thanks for the increasing Pinside's Power and Capabilities....It shows that this took a lot of thought and time to pull this one off . This pinball community GREATLY APPRICATES all of the hard work that you do for us....

It use to Highlight Blue over a topic when there was unread messages you haven't read. Now they all seem greyed out?

#54 6 years ago

Thanks for all of your hard work to keep the site a great place to visit

#55 6 years ago

Would it be possible to put the thread status icon (star = new, green number = new posts since last visit) back on the right side? My eyes are really straining to see that against the myriad of colors against the topics. Heck, if even a personalized setting option were available that would be great (maybe others prefer the new way).

There is a setting for this in the new 'settings' section - but it doesn't appear to work yet.

Nevermind I figured it out.

Nice update! I love that the thread starter is now visible in the topic list. Also really love the settings and especially that I can turn off image auto-loading. The thumbnail approach works great for me. I turned off the sub-category indicators as I think they really clutter things up, but that's a personal preference. Very cool that we have the options!

My only other request would be to give us the option of turning off avatars. That seems to be an option on most other forums.

Also, I gotta say...everything is running SIGNIFICANTLY faster so far. Awesome!!!

Great job Robin!

#60 6 years ago

Well done Robin and team!!!
Love the new features and look.
Thanks again for all that you and the mods do for Pinside.

#61 6 years ago

Wow Robin! Different look and much faster so far...

#62 6 years ago

Fastest shop job I've ever seen! Looks great, glad to finally see this take shape!

#63 6 years ago

I'm a-scared and don't like change. It does look clean and am sure I will grow to love it!

Edit: Just had to try out this new image upload system. Pretty snazzy!

The biggest change is the subforum icons. If you don't like them, they can be disabled in the settings.

You can edit this in your settings and it's the first option:

;-D

WHOA! Yes. Yes we do.

Looks good, and seems to be loading VERY quickly!

Robin,

Can you limit the size of the pictures when viewed within a thread? Possibly keep pictures width to the same size allowed for text? For example if you check out this tread the pictures are huge and it makes the thread difficult to read:

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dw-restore#post-1147353

I liked it better when the pictures are smaller within the thread and then when you click on them you get the full size high resolution picture.

#70 6 years ago

Awesome Robin! Thanks for all of the hard work!

#71 6 years ago

IMO the sub-forum icons are fine right next to the topic title. Makes it easy to associate icons with threads.

Yes, I've noticed that all pictures do that now, not just the odd few. Also, when I vote on a post on iPad the voting pane appears as expected but there is no way to make it disappear without refreshing the page. It comes down and blocks the post text. If I tap or click outside the post pane that would be ideal to make it collapse.

I think it would be cool if when you clicked on the small sub category icon it took you to that forum.

#74 6 years ago

BoJo, you must have figured it out. You have to click the bumper icon to see who voted on your posts.

#75 6 years ago

looks great!

Yea, that is why I deleted the post

#77 6 years ago

I was able to get the site back up to speed by signing out and deleting my cookies. It slows and css is gone as soon as i click sign in.

#78 6 years ago

Lots of good things.

But would prefer not to have categories next to the posts - too much information for my small brain

Just found out you can edit this in the settings. See my post above.

Could you check your address bar? Are you on https://pinside.com or http://pinside.com? Note the s behind http.

If you are on https, could you remove the s and see if that helps?

The way it's designed to work is this: you browse the http site but login runs on https.

#81 6 years ago

Nice work Robin. I had beta access and I was still surprised to see the new look.

"Ah crap I'm on the beta site. Oh wait..."

#83 6 years ago

All we need now is the option to hide thread titles that don't have any new messages

#84 6 years ago

And that reminds me, can you enable the option to view posts with no replies for all sub-forums? It only appears on the front forum page.

#85 6 years ago

Thanks for all your efforts looks great. I cant wait to figure it all out. Nice touch on the karma points.

Bingo! That did it! It still took a while to get to the log in page but after I did and switched it from https to http it's working as it should. Thanks!!

Yes, I have noticed this as well. Working on a solution!

#88 6 years ago

I like what I see.

Some things will take some getting used to, but that's not a big deal.

My favorite thing is seeing who was the most recent person to post in a thread before clicking on it. I've been hoping for that change for a while.

#89 6 years ago

Thanks for update!

#90 6 years ago

It will take a bit to get used to the new look, and I think some of it is a bit cluttered/busy looking, but man, the server seems to be kicking serious butt compared to before!

#91 6 years ago

I was completely confused, but the announcement post was easy to find, so that's good. Don't know if I like yet, but I DO want to see what my new score is!

#92 6 years ago

Looks great!

#93 6 years ago

I'm working on all bugs reported and will also consider any feature request related to the recent changes. Please go easy on me, it's a lot to digest

I'm now working on the images that are showing too big. The server may be a little slow as I am currently resizing 17,000 images which somehow failed to resize properly earlier.

#94 6 years ago

Liking the new look

#95 6 years ago

is there a way to make all the color thingies "go away"? it's pointless for those of us who are color-blind, and very distracting... i understand what you are trying to do with this, but it really clutters the heck out of the screen, with no real buy-back...

sometimes just because you "can", doesn't mean you "should"...
