Quoted from yancy:

Crap like this makes me embarrassed to be a collector of anything. I know exactly what number all my games are: one. I have one. That’s all that matters. Couldn’t care less how many other people have one, or what number is stamped on mine, or theirs. If you’re buying something because exclusivity makes you feel special, grow up. Just play your insanely expensive luxury toy that we’re all fortunate to own, and sleep well at night. If unique numbers give you a boner, look at the serial number.

Right! There's an old saying in the antique business - anything made to be a collectable will never be. WOZRRLE or ECLE are great games and very enjoyable to play. I own one and love it! Each have their own unique characteristics in terms of appearance and should be enjoyed as such. But don't mistake any of that as being rare and collectable. They aren't either. How many different versions of Hobbit or WOZ already exist? And how many more might yet be made? They are not truly rare or collectable on that basis. They're just pinball machines meant to be played and enjoyed. Special collector's edition numbers are irrelevant and more self serving to he manufacturer than anything else as a means of hyping up sales. No criticism of JJP intended by any of that. He is trying to sell his merchandise and some degree of hype is always expected, and to an extent is a good thing. Just don't start believing the hype!

My name is Ken Cromwell and I'm the Communication Specialist for Jersey Jack Pinball. This situation was recently brought to my attention and I wanted to address it in an effort to clear up any confusion. I do apologize for any confusion as there was absolutely an error with two 1939 decals being generated for two different machines.
Wizard of Oz Ruby Red edition is limited to 1500 games. After doing some research it turns out that the OP had requested 1939 and that number was given assigned to his machine. That should have prevented an additional 1939 number request from being accepted. The seller of the WOZRR that is currently listed did NOT request a number for his machine but a 1939 decal was generated and shipped by mistake. I've contacted the seller of this machine to update him with the correct number of his machine that we have on file (it is not 1939). This was an error on our end as we would not have ever duplicated a number intentionally.
Again, our apologies for the error and for any confusion this may have caused. I would encourage everyone to reach out to us directly (with any problems, concerns, or feedback) as we have a very open line of communication. It would allow us the opportunity to serve you to the best of our ability.

Thanks for the explanation....be interesting to see if the guy selling his WOZ makes the correction

I knew there was a reasonable answer. Nothing to get your pantys in a twist for

#154 3 years ago

Im hoping my flying monkey and witch mod come in the mail today, its been 2 weeks!

#155 3 years ago

Ken is correct on this, his actual game is #634 not #1939, buyer beware. I just got off the phone with Jack and we have it worked out. All of you would feel sighted if you asked for a specific number and found out someone else had it too.

Mods...do you job and close this thread! Issue has been resolved.

#156 3 years ago

Other dude will just go and sell his game as a WOZ RR with JJP 1939 apron sticker. Looks the same sitting in a gameroom regardless what the S/N is.

Wait... so you are telling us that a simple phone call could have resolved this?

No need to have a drama Queen thread?

Amazing

Good job ken, I like the cut of your jib. Anyone can make a mistake but it’s nice to see someone admit a mistake, apologize, and move forward. As much as this is an embarrassment for occurring, it’s nice to hopefully see a solution found, and possibly improve practices in the future.

I play pinball, not serial numbers
Why dont you PM or email Jack about this, instead of discussing here?

Maybe because it's a pinball discussion site and this is a pinball related discussion??

#163 3 years ago

I think it’s good that it was brought to the attention of the community. If it becomes a regular occurrence then there’s a problem. Luckily this was just a mistake

Man, it’s like reaching out first could have solved the problem amicably.

And once again I am so happy to be a JJP customer ! Thank you for jumping in this thread and for bringing clarity to the misunderstanding.

I have a feeling that apology just isn’t going to cut it.
Have you sent an armed repo team to the home of the other, non-deserving 1939 recipient?
Or are you trying legal measures first?

Surely, at this point nothing less than a ritual burning of the poseur 1939 machine will suffice? Is there no justice or humanity left in this cruel, cruel world?

Beware of what? That you might also get a meaningless sticker with a meaningless number on it?

Quoted from porkcarrot:

I guess he is saying that if you want a WOZ RR you need to be aware that the sticker DOES NOT have 1939 on it. So you may want to pass on it. It would have the number 634 on it..so you know..you're fu#*ed

I hear Modcouple, Mezelmods, and Modfather are making really nice 1939 plates for all of us. Now, no one will be left out.
Seriously the LE thing got out of hand these past several years. Love what American Pinball started, one packed model, one version.

Anybody else need a decal ?

#173 3 years ago

1939 was a bad year that's still causing trouble in 2020.

#174 3 years ago

So neither of these are actually #1939 of 1500, they just have a sticker?

Ken,
Good for you! Well written and an obvious Non intentional mistake that in my opinion you have handled as well as could be expected.
