....is from Junkyard!

Playing it on my iPad and just noticed the logo on a couple of places on the play field. Please tell me I'm not the only one who didn't know this....

#2 5 years ago

I noticed it too recently, when I played one at a show. I didn't know if Junkyard was the first (or only) pin this appeared on.

#3 5 years ago

Same here...downloaded the update over the weekend and saw that.

#4 5 years ago

I believe TZ has similar artwork on the cabinet.

Here's a pic for reference (the one under the left flipper looks most like it):

Had no idea until now. Never really payed much attention to it either.

#7 5 years ago

I just noticed it for the first time playing junkyard on The Pinball Arcade on my phone. I have never played a junkyard in person or I might've noticed it sooner.

They were inspired (inversely) by Sillverball Mania two decades earlier

My kids actually pointed this out to me the other day because a friend of mine bought a Junkyard. Never underestimate what a 6 or 9 year old will notice.

#10 5 years ago

Has everyone noticed that there are two flippers in the words 'Pinside'? ...it took me a couple years to notice. I'm slow like that sometimes.

Same with me. I've been wearing Pinside t-shirts for years, and I never noticed the flippers. One day last year my daughter pointed them out to me. It was quite a revelation.

I love stuff like this.

I was talking to a friend recently, and he never knew that the logo on Boston's first two albums were more than just spaceships! lol

I noticed it on my WCS, too. Or... maybe it was RS.. or both

No synthesizers were used in the creation of that logo

I learn something new on Pinside every day. I confess to needing Vid's clue to solve it.

I actually just noticed this too playing Junk Yard on the Pinball Arcade.

This spartan's golf logo wins the "did you notice" competition in my book.

kids are usually better at noticing the hidden shapes and designs in logos, especially when they haven't learned how to read yet.

Its also on the playfield. Right side near the slot machine I believe there are 3 or 4 of them.

For a while I thought it was a duck.

Wait til you guys find out what's on the LOTR LE backglass!

#30 5 years ago

I always saw a penguin. There was a thread about a year ago where I finally found out I wasn't the only one.

#31 5 years ago

Well... The spoon isnt deliberate from what I understand, but the arrow is. In regards to forwordig mail.
I did a couple weeks of subliminal advertising during my university stint in graphic design. Some great stuff put there!

I noticed the pinside ball logo for a while in comparason to a lot of games!

The Amazon logo "smile" is an arrow that points from A to Z

#34 5 years ago

too cool...I never noticed the boston thing!

#35 5 years ago

Guys, it is most certainly a blue penguin. I've looked at the logo a thousand times and I'm absolutely positive. You can take it from me, 'cause I'm a blue bird myself.

Just turn it 90 degrees clockwise.

Cool, I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing

#39 5 years ago

I think there's only so many ways to draw/paint a pinball and they all look similar. Perhaps the Pinside logo was inspired by numerous drawings.

#40 5 years ago

These are the other machines that have a "silverball" somewhere in the artwork:

- Star Trek The Next Generation (I think... somewhere near the Borg ship?)
- Tales of the Arabian Nights (near the ramp area on an elevated platform)
- RoadShow? (Not sure...)

Thanks, guys. I'm feeling a little less weird today. I always saw a penguin and until recently I never looked at it as a pinball. Maybe we were all Bloom County fans???

Somewhere there is a sheet with all these logos with hidden stuff. I'll try to find it...

I miss Bloom County! It was my favorite cartoon and when he stopped, it seems like it faded into obscurity very quickly.

#45 5 years ago

You mean like hidden cows and DOHO?

#46 5 years ago

Great hidden cows - CFTBL - in the paid symbol at drive thru entrance, bottom right corner.

CV - a guest judge is of the bovine persuasion...

Scared Stiff - "a cow?!?"
