JM has factory ramp guards but mine need replacing and I can't find them anywhere. Maybe a one piece unit that replaces the ramp flap as well. I would also love to see you make replacements for the square rubber that's impossible to find. Plus it would be nice to have those in multi color options as well.

#2 10 years ago

He'll do anything if he has a playfield he can fit them to... No playfield, no Cliffys...

#3 10 years ago

If you want protectors made for ramps you can either make a prototype out of card stock, or send the ramp to Cliffy. He would also need to know mounting locations of the ramp.

Most of his protectors came to fruition with help from people who wanted them made. People have sent him entire games, PFs, ramps, etc...to help!

#4 10 years ago

Crazy Bob hole and the drop into the glove popper also get worn and could use some help (though the latter might be sort of a tricky spot for a guard). I was just thinking I need to order some of his lane guards for mine as well.

#5 10 years ago

Well if he's willing to make them I will send him the parts he needs.

#6 10 years ago

I'm always willing. It's my mission to help keep these games playable. In the case of ramps the best is having the game to work from because, as Brian sez, I need to know angles of incline and mounting options. Post some pics of your damaged areas and I can get an idea of what I'll need to do. If I can't get the game here then I'll likely ask you to help with templates. Have no fear, I can walk you through that process pretty simply

#7 10 years ago

The OP may want to PM Fattrain as well. He is a little closer to Cliffy, and might be willing to help!

#8 10 years ago

Cliffy, am I correct in remembering hearing somewhere you have a Cliffy for Waterworlds Dive hole?

#9 10 years ago

I'm in!!

Cliffster we will get JM #0001 to you to make these

(it's only sweet justice that the first game off the line help protect all the other games)

Just drop me a line Cliffy and we will work out getting you my game

Yes I do, and new protection for a BUNCH of other games that I just have not had to time to get up on my web page. Pics are in other threads here on PS so I won't clutter Jacks JM thread with a pic

Count me in on Cliffy's for JM!

Sweet - thanks for helping! Will look forward to seeing these.

Thanks Cliffy for your willingness to do this.
Thanks fattrain for donating your machine to the cause.

I can send you photos of the damage to my ramp, but the reality of the situation is that someone installed a left side ramp guard on the right side of the ramp so it's cometely unprotected and taking direct hits.

Cliffy, any comments on making colored replacements for the square rubbers?

That's fair enough. If it wouldn't bother you too much to PM a picture of it in action if possible and price that'd be awesome

Sorry for the delay, but here are the pictures of the crack in my ramp.

Hmm. Looks like good mounting options so I'm confident I can do 'em up real nice.
I have a Congo in the shop right now but as soon as I'm done with that I'll get Justin's JM plugged in and get 'em going. In lieu of that, and to help shorten the process, you could always send me that ramp intact and I can work from that. Looks like I need to spec the ramp flap too and have my pal Martin run a set in stainless for you.

Hadn't even considered it till you mentioned it but I would love to see what they look like stock.

I will send you the ramp no problem. Also as far as the flaps, there are a total of four and I think they are the same size but I will double check.

This is the best thing about pinside.

Now to copy and paste this whole thread into the other one.

Any news on this? I've noticed that my formerly near-perfect playfield has started showing some slight wear at the VUK edges, Crazy Bob's, ramp drops and jet lanes (and also on the drop target, but that is barely visible).. I'd really like to see a full set for the JM to keep my machine from getting worse.

Curious if these exist or not as well. Any insight would be great!

Thanks!

Oh rest assured I'll be looking at every possible protection point Cant thank the J-man enough for making the trip. Really enjoyed the time discussing life and pinball. Love the Gomez autograph on the trans too "Wow! #001!"

#34 10 years ago

Good times indeed Cliffster! Figured I'd post that pic of your dog I took.

It just sits like this naturally and watched the Cliffmaster at work

Can I make a suggestion for a protector, Cliffy? Mine recently developed a crack at the turn in the left ramp. I think this is a common breaking point and there have been some pretty hammered ramps on pinside. I made my own (faux-Cliffy!) out of some ductwork and it fits well and plays smoothly even though it's sort of rough. Any chance you might make a version of this protector, and maybe one for the right ramp as well? I'd buy them. Thanks!

My ramps are also on the verge of being destroyed. I would be in for some of those protectors as well.
