Quoted from Riefepeters:How can there be no club yet for Bone Busters? I have a feeling I’ll be hanging out here alone for some time…
In any case, let’s get this started and I’ve got a few things to add. Topper related mostly!

These usually die out because everyone uses the Gottlieb Catch-all club: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/home-for-the-gottlieb-sys1-sys-80b-guys-yep-i-guess-it-a-club/page/57
The Gottlieb games seem to be the black sheep and so they never seem to be able to break free from their holding group!
Bone Busters is a great game though, glad you love it!
Bone busters skull topper is probably one of the best toppers of all time! Or at least top 5 pre 2010…c’mon!
I was fortunate enough to piece together a complete working topper from a few different sources including one tremendously gracious pinsider.
For starters though, this thread is helpful as we’ve tracked down the source of the actual skull:

Just recently added this nice eyeball shooter to Bone busters, available from

I hope that post I made was able to help someone with the skull. It took me quite a bit of searching the net to compile pictures of it to figure out how to make it especially since I couldn't seem to find anything in the parts catalogs about that skull. I sold my Bone Busters a while back so I may not be much help anymore but whats in those pictures is how I left it. I just had a thought about the eye, I think I just put a screw right into the back of it attached to a spring to hold it in place. And just for fun I found a few more pictures of when I was playing around with the links to move the jaw up and down.

Invaluable! I pieced together this topper over the course of a few months. I found a new skull based your post, purchased a Tee’d Off just to get the dome, got most of the internal mechs and older skull from a super nice pinsider (I can’t recall who right now) and built the wiring harness myself. I added some comet matrix lighting in the topper connect to GI to keep some purple illumination full time and I also added an orange light behind is eyeball to keep that lit up.
The only reason I actually took the time is because this pin is a keeper. This was my first pin when I was 16 - never had a topper til now - and while there are many other pins I’d play before this one…this one has a soft spot in my heart! And it’s great to come back to it every once in awhile!

This thread will never die! I may be the only one here for some time…but bone busters just can’t get stuck in a catch all!

Just looking at a Bone Buster that popped up for sale.
Any known faults with the game to watch out for?
Only a few things come to my mind:
1) topper. Everyone loves the topper. If the game doesn’t have it, you will have a hard time finding one. And if it does, the acrylic is often cracked and beat up.
2) wear on the playfield in front of the flippers. People always put full sized rubbers and they drag.
Otherwise it’s pinball…everything can be fixed!

So the one I have a lead on has no topper and bad wear in front of the right flipper. Nailed it.
Just acquired a bone busters with no topper and a black and gold splattered cabinet. Going to decal the cabinet and on the look out for the topper if anyone has or sees one pop up.
That topper is going to be hard! Best bet might be to piece one together, but even that was challenging for me. If you get the Lindbergh skull, I can help you with the insides. But you may never find a motor to get him moving side to side. But jaw movement only would not be the worst thing in the world!
Added some addressable led strips into the speakers. I’m documenting the strips and how-to in this thread:

I have a Bone Busters I’m working on that is missing the captive ball shield (26448)
Anyone able to pull theirs and take some measurements?
