when you take the games apart and have a million bits and bobs how do you know what goes where when putting it back together? as many parts could sort of fit in a number of places? especially screws and bolts, posts etc...

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Many of the games I do I have done several times or more.
Beyond that there is a lot of carry over.
For example a certain manufacturer will use a certain size or color screw for a specific purpose so much of it is just study and familiarity.
Anything I really think is game specific I will take a picture of.

I see knowledge is key here hehe

those playfields look so much simplier when the cables are routed/tied up neatly.

Nice, high end lights?

Were there many explosions in a plane paint booth?

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Never tried that but may in the future.
The good thing about plating is that I can hand it off to someone else and have it brewing in the background while I rework the playfield and other parts.
The bad thing when dealing with the small parts is retapping the screw holes and such once they are done.

I was always told by platers that zinc plating will not affect threads due to the plating is such a small amount of material its not enough to change the size of the part.

Quoted from yancy:

I always assumed those rubber rings were to prevent vibration damage to the lamps, but at the same time that seemed like a far-fetched level of care for a manufacturer. I guess they just didn't wanna stock shorter screws.

but add extra parts to the BOM, very strange.

HEP is the earthshaker coming soon?

#3406 4 months ago
Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Maybe. New cabinet is being built.
Debating doing a painted cabinet like the Special Whirlwind or sticking with the factory art and decals.

Yessss, can't wait for this one! I really like the original cabinet artwork nice and simple.

#3432 4 months ago

your car painting past certainly gives you a massive advantage in restoring pins, it's amazing how much you appear to use those skills/knowledge on these restores.

#3470 4 months ago

when you sand the pf and it goes all cloudy how do you get it clear again? how do you no how much to sand and not hit artwork? always amazes me and something I'd never dare do!!!

#3475 4 months ago

wish we could get hold of new cabinets like this in the UK id snap one up in a instant for my own earthshaker restore!

#3543 4 months ago

Do you always use the dry method over wet? if so is there a specific reason? Would wet be more forgiving for an ameature?

Thx

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Ready to build some pallets to ship the LOTR
I use a simple math formula.
48x48 makes a nice large pallet and as long as you get true 8 foot 2x4s then you can just cut everything in half.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

So HEP is really High End Pallets

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Another cabinet shipment arrived.
4 cabinets in two weeks.
Getting tight around the warehouse.
10 of the spots are new cabinets though along with a few finished games and duds that need to go.[quoted image][quoted image]

can you stack the new cabinets? or would it damage them?

Quoted from Marten:

The Chinese are capable of producing quality products but not at the price we are asking them to do it for. You get what you pay for!

100% agree with this, all your expensive quality tvs and shit are made in china as well! It does not matter where it is made you get what you pay for. People just want everything dirt cheap then get upset when it does not last. Or greedy company's and sell cheap shit as expensive items and wonder why people get pissed when it does not last as technically they did pay for a quality item just received a cheap one coz the company pocked most of the cash!

seeing those 4 fluorescent light reflections is like the official HEP cleared stamp lol
