Quoted from High_End_Pins:On Sunday night I noticed my left calf was swollen from the knee to the ankle.
Chris, how is the leg doing? Swelling gone? Doesn't look like you have been keeping off it that much.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Definitely needs some plastics
Any there even any reproductions available for these? Looking forward to seeing your solution here ...
Quoted from High_End_Pins:The HEP gallery is partially back up and running.
Bookmarked
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Got the wood rail parts stained yesterday cleared.
Along with the HEP beer sign.
Continue to love the wood rail process unfolding here. I know it is not likely we will see a lot of wood rails get the HEP treatment, but it is great someone is willing to make this investment to preserve a little bit of pinball history.
Also, I am impressed you pulled out the Silhouette Cameo right away to get some experience and have something to show for it. Looking forward to seeing you apply it to a restoration in the future.
Maybe because it is different than what you usually do, maybe it is the history, the art/beauty or just watching how an expert navigates a learning curve, I have really enjoyed watching the wood rail unfold into the beauty it really is. I know you don't post game play videos but you do test them so it would be great to see this one in action if possible when done. (and maybe some time in the future do another one, or pre-war even). Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
Thank you so much for the game play video! Just a great project from start to end, and to see this beautiful machine in action is icing on the cake!
Quoted from ToucanF16:I like the custom HS legs. I think Houdini style hex nuts like punkin mentioned and plastic leg washers should work.
I agree, this works great with the cab art!
Quoted from yancy:I see hot dogs below the E-Y-E-S inserts and now I can't unsee it.
Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Now I can't unsee it either...
Chris, looks fantastic as usual!
You bought 3 units of orange, is that quarts or pints? Pints seem too small, quarts too big. How shelf stable is the paint, opened and unopened?
Quoted from High_End_Pins:I tried several trim combinations and this is my favorite.
I want all the black parts to match the sheen on the cabinet so standard hinges, door and legs.
This combination looks great! The blades match very nicely too. Interested to see how the PF matches up.
Chris,
Have you ever redone a pin you did earlier in your career, or maybe made a change/repaired damage on one you did before?
Quoted from NC_Pin:If pinball had the equivalent of car shows… this thing would win an award. That SBM looks perfect— like in every way perfect. Amazing!
I agree. It just looks so ... clean. Like clean room clean. Gorgeous.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:JM cabinet is primed and guidecoated.
Chris, I see the guidecoat and understand the purpose, but when I look at it it looks uniform to me - is that because there are no high/low spots on this one, or I just don't know what I am looking at (both are probably true). Can you explain if this revealed anything than needed extra work, and how you tell from the guidecoat if it does? I feel like this is one crucial step that really sets you/ other professional painters apart from the rest of us.
Thanks
Quoted from sgtski1978:I believe he put a video on his process on his YouTube channel.
I saw the video on priming and it shows the guidecoat going down, but how Chris uses it is what interests me - as it looks uniform to me. If the black highlights all the high spots, there are that many across the surface? I feel like I am missing something important here...
