So the guide coat helps show imperfections on the wood better so you can see them and correct them as you sand? Does the guide coat also give you a "guide" as to how far you can sand the primer without potentially sanding through it?

HEP said in his YouTube video the matte clear is like sanding a rock and the matte additive is very expensive so that is why he does it in this order. I assume if the desire is to keep the cabinet glossy you would just apply a final layer of gloss clear after leveling/sanding.
