Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Now for the underside
I want to sand it clean but I want to maintain my color mapping since I am less familiar with DR Who.
[quoted image][quoted image]

What type of sander and what grit paper do you use to sand the bottom?

Thanks

I vote for the black with the orange stripe.

Which game have you restored the most times? I am going to guess TAF. Do you keep those types of records?

Thanks

Gerry

Do you use the same on small cabinet repairs?

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Special Whirlwind coils are almost done.
Whirlwind has a lot of coils.
6 jet bumpers
5 sling/eject style
3 flippers
2 drop target assembly
A couple kickout and diverters
Plus the spinning disc assembly I need to reassemble.

[quoted image]

Do you install all new coils or replace the coil wrappers?

Looks great! What happened with all the different coin door paint options? Looks like just a slate grey.

Keep them NIB for about 10 years and sell them for twice the purchase price!

Quoted from j_m_:

very nicely done. I love the gold trim for the [showroom] look but hate the fact that if it were mine, I'd probably be very OCD about keeping fingerprints off of it
have you ever done this game (or other games with the gun shooter) where the lockdown and side rails were done in chrome or gold, but the gun was finished off to look more authentic? (or would it not look as well that way?

I have restored my IJ (not to any degree close to this) and used gold legs, siderails and lockdown bar, but left the gun original and it looks fine. Left it black and I like that it looks like an old worn gun. Just seems to fit the theme.

Did the ES arrive standing on it's legs? How often do you receive games like that?

Quoted from mrf_pa:

Chris,
I apologize if this question was asked and answered before, but figured while you were fresh off the TZ tear down, maybe you can shed some light on the great mystery of the weird shaped clear plastics, the "cloud" is the only one where I can find a home for (by the shooter lane), but most of the thread posts I've read seem to point that they were some extras tossed in with no real home. I was wondering if you found them over the many you have restored.
[quoted image]

Many plastic sets years ago had plastics that never ended up being used in the actual production. Some with artwork on them. TAF is one that had a few unused plastics in the set. These I believe fall into that category.

Quoted from chad:

Did Addams Family have the bugs plastics that were not used?

Yes, they had a few unused bugs, the cemetery plastics and I think a solid colored blue that wasn't used.

Thanks for sharing your post management technique. I always struggle with reassembly. This is great!

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Lamp harness is now removed with all the upgrades done to the harness itself.
Then cleaned[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

What steps do you use when cleaning the wiring harness?

Thanks

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

New cabinet is built and being wired
I have a variety of templates I have made to make parts location quick and easy. [quoted image]
Boards that need service are exchanged with already serviced units.
[quoted image]
The hinges are shimmed off the cabinet to keep them from rubbing the rails.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Head is placed on the lower.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

What type of washer are you using to shim the rails?

I wish I could get parts nickeled for that price. The place near me is a fortune. If I took them 66 parts it would be thousands of dollars, which limits the amount of parts I get done.
