Quoted from DBLM:

Hi Chris, are there any pins that you have ever wanted to work your magic on but have not had the opportunity?

There are a few all based on art and painted cabinets that I think I could really do some great work on.
Nitro Groundshaker

Like the car on the NG and the jet on the other plus the whole red white and blue thing.

Curtis continues to train. We had a hot day for it today so short and sweet was the method used.
Starts off very confident. 7A1AEF48-5C23-4998-8C85-825E01C348FB (resized).jpeg7A1AEF48-5C23-4998-8C85-825E01C348FB (resized).jpeg
A few sprints ,some battle ropes and some ball slams later.

No. We let the youngest son name the pets so he will have a little more interest in it.
He picked Maverick this time off the movie Surfs Up I believe.
Last one he named Ratchet because he played a game called Ratchet and Clank at the time.
Crazy how the autistic mind works sometimes.

Tell me about it. My son could barely speak and he completely learned by himself numerical values for every letter based on their sequence (e.g. A=1, M=13, Z=26). Lots of amazing things, but my favorite is that he can calculate cubes and cube roots (and even higher powers) for any 3 and many 4 digit numbers instantly in his head and call them out (I'm much slower on my iPhone calculator, and he is always right).

Going with the Big Bad Baptist tonight. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
I have been working on the Centaur all day. This is all that has been transferred so far.
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
The process of rebuilding each part with connectors new diodes, caps and short protections can be very tedious and time consuming.
Target example
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Reconfiguring the GI is also something that takes a little thought process
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
This has to be modified on both the old and onto the new as I go so it will flow once I free the harness
This means I can terminate some runs in the process further simplifying it for the end user but complicating it for myself. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
The jet bumpers are in good order now.

BSD cabinet based and cleared

Yes, I have been waiting patiently for this BSD to pop out. I am restoring one and my cabinet with radcals is almost done. Looking forward to the Mirco playfield evaluation for missing dimples, etc.

Definitely wearing a helmet on that thing. I was just assembling and tuning it there.
Hopefully it will be a reasonable replacement for running because that is starting to wear out the knees.

#4520 4 years ago

Put a helmet on! You are too important to pinball to suffer head trauma (well, I assume your family probably thinks you're important too).

Seriously, I've had 3 road bike wrecks where I hit my head on the pavement - 2 were at 20+ MPH and the other I was barely moving but still hit my head on the concrete. Busted helmets and had minor concussions on the high speed falls, but w/o a helmet I would have suffered far worse.

#4521 4 years ago

Aaahhh a three wheeled skin remover.

Last year i bought a trail bike and started learning the skills i had from 40 years of road bikes all over again. Every time i walked into the pub all busted up someone would remind me that there there was a document i needed to read properly.
My birth certificate
I've stopped using the trail bike as i have found that pinball gives me about the same exercise without the chance of riding off a cliff.

Looks like good exercise mate.

How do you manage to ger the mecs so clean?

#4525 4 years ago
Quoted from Nihonmasa:

How do you manage to ger the mecs so clean?

I use several different methods depending on what the mech is or what shows.
First would be a standard wash with a non corrosive citrus based cleaner.

A step further would be a ultrasonic cleaning.

After that either break down and hand polish each part bracket and screw with Flitz Metal polish

Or use freshly nickel plated parts

Sometimes a combination of all the above but in general just whatever it takes to get the mechs looking nice overall.

Very cool! What is it and where do you get it?

#4527 4 years ago
Quoted from ToucanF16:

It’s a Me-Mover fit 2.3.
It is essentially a moving step machine.
What I like about it is that it engages the opposite direction of traditional peddling. The up stroke or lifting of the leg generates the movement. Makes for a much different workout.
Me-mover is the company that makes and sells it.
You can get the 2.0 version on close out some places for about half the price but that was the initial model and it has seen three or four revisions since then.

Working through the Centaur wiring.
Looking back at where this game all started months ago with the playfield work, cabinet paint now this it is quite a journey to get here.
On Centaur they remote the diodes for the trough switches

Some borrow the same wire.
It makes for clutter and confusion where it isn’t really needed.

I place those diodes in line inside of shrink tube and make it a sub assembly.

Holy shit, those pop bumper "caps" are genius. I'm considering doing my Centaur without any red plastic, and couldn't come up with a good bumper solution. Until now. I'd love to see what those look like when lit.

#4550 4 years ago

Noticed you stuck with the linear flipper mechs. Was that customer's choice or your choice? I've heard differing opinions on those, but I haven't heard the HEP opinion.
