Holy High Alcohol Batman.
Seriously though, Samichlaus is excellent and it gets better the longer it is aged.

Yes it is a sipper for sure.
Question for the Guru, I've combed this topic trying to find out how you do connectors for double flippers and could not readily find one, how would you wire up this 6803 flip? I'm trying to emulate your great level of work.

this is the B4 picture.
What the... First, lets start by removing the wires and making certain the lugs are not touching. Second, flip the coil around so the lugs are on opposite side of the coil stop. Neatness counts!
Replacement choices are a HEP restored original.

Or a Mirco replacement.
image (resized).jpg
I could go either way since I have a couple more TZs around here in wait.
For this build I will use the HEP original because it will give the Mirco a little more time to settle in and some time to perfect if anything pops up.
Things that occasionally pop up are insert settling image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Or minor cracking although this can also be from impact.
image (resized).jpg
This one isn’t as perfect as I would like but in fairness many that come in are so it is just about accessing them for what they are individually and correcting or coordinating with Mirco if needed.
This is a playfield I can definitely work with and have ready for the next build. Until then we stick with the reworked original.

this is the B4 picture.
An assembly like that only has maybe 3 wires possibly 4 that will mate with the actual playfield harness the rest is just inter part wiring between the switch stacks and coil.
I would separate what leaves from what interconnects and make a sub harness for those things.
If you look back in here in the EBD pictures you can probably pick up on some of it.

Hi,
When using this playfield. What process will you do? Reclear first or sand flat before reclear?
Chris - I was looking at your LOTR gallery and noticed you have the right external wire on the left ramp inside the stainless ball guide. I have it the same.
When the wire is on the inside, the ball hits it. On the other hand, when it is on the outside, I can see how the additional speed would send the ball flying off the ramp a lot more often. Do you have an opinion on the appropriate setup?
Capture (resized).PNGChris,
I apologize if this question was asked and answered before, but figured while you were fresh off the TZ tear down, maybe you can shed some light on the great mystery of the weird shaped clear plastics, the "cloud" is the only one where I can find a home for (by the shooter lane), but most of the thread posts I've read seem to point that they were some extras tossed in with no real home. I was wondering if you found them over the many you have restored.

Sand heavily, lightly reclear. Let set a week or two. Sand and polish.

I have only done a couple LOTRs but have one set up now to do.
The wire form on it is as pictured in your post.
I will check my teardown pictures of others and see what is consistent.
One thing I can see is that it could easily go either way.

No I haven’t ever figured those out either. My best guess is that they could possibly fit over the Star post in the pop bumper and under the mini playfield area because the hole spacing and various shapes but I haven’t tested the theory.

Many plastic sets years ago had plastics that never ended up being used in the actual production. Some with artwork on them. TAF is one that had a few unused plastics in the set. These I believe fall into that category.

Did Addams Family have the bugs plastics that were not used?

The extra odd plastics that Williams added to the game, are in case a ball got stuck somewhere on the playfield.
Finished gutting the TZ.
It is a rough one.
Awesome! Now I can get the tips from the HEP as I am in the middle of restoring F-14 and is my first restore.

I just finished my F-14 Tomcat restoration, but I can’t wait to see where you go with this one.
Quoted from chad:Did Addams Family have the bugs plastics that were not used?
Yes, they had a few unused bugs, the cemetery plastics and I think a solid colored blue that wasn't used.
Quoted from yancy:That door has a nicer finish than most playfields.
Thanks. I am always a painter at heart. Doesn’t matter what type of materials or subject it is I am always going to do my best.

If you’re not busy next weekend, l’ll be spraying my outdoor shutters. Lol! Never thought I’d be geeked about doors! Great job
Just found this thread and read through all 64 (and counting) pages. Thank you for posting your pictures. I know it can’t be efficient to stop and post all the time.
I have a question about serial numbers on the cabinets. Do you preserve them on the cabinets you restore? Or restamp them on new cabs?

I don’t preserve or recreate them.
For a purist it could be done but for the type of work I am doing or finished product I am after it would look more like an imperfection even though it is technically correct.
Workout is over with.
Was hot out there today but nowhere near as hot as it will be in the upcoming months so I get out there and push myself to start getting the conditioning up in order to ease into it. All accomplished right on my sidewalk or half way up the road.

20 wall balls right now feels like 40
25 Kettlebell swings. Feels like 50
1/4 mile sprint feels like a 1 mile run but it will get easier and in another month I will be used to it again
