Amazing the kinda of work and detail you do on these machines.
Quoted from flynnibus:Chris, with you redoing the cabinets in those heavy restores... have you considered swapping the games to slide rails vs the pivot point for the playfields? Would seem like a great upgrade for those designs.
Yes several times.
The problem I found is there are just a couple that are feasible.
Many games like TAF WW and most others that are pivot only have mechs in the way making it impossible to put the slide track on the playfield.
I think someone did it once on a T2 so that one would probably work but other than that it is probably more trouble or complicated than it seems.

That would be a amazing upgrade
Quoted from spinal:Re the IJ splicing, why would someone do that? When I look at it, I’m not sure I understand under what circumstances someone would think that would be a good idea. Is it so they wouldn’t have to take pics of what wire is connected to what? Serious question.
I would take a guess having a little bit of colored wire left on all the "items" allows them to be easily traced back to the wires they were originally on. So someone who did not want to take disassembly notes, reference manuals, perhaps take a bunch of photos could easily remove all items off wire harness and quickly find out where they originally went by matching the colors.
Quoted from TomT:Wish I had a need for that IJ cab!
Even if you don’t need it you can have it Tom.
Beauty rest was interrupted at 6:45 this morning.
Material delivery. Managed to get it all in the driveway without messing up the yard.
Now to get it closer to the site.
Needless to say I will skip today’s workout. 06DCCF2F-7F5C-4A13-84F6-FF2BA908989C (resized).jpeg

Another happy customer!
Quoted from High_End_Pins:I hope so. James deserves it
Thanks Chris!
Best of luck at tackling that new equipment shed of yours.
Looking forward to sending you more pins in the future.
Chris how nervous do you get when the game gets turned over to the shipper? I would hate to let some of these guys handle a game I had restored by HEP.

I was going to ask what was the worse shipping story he had! As many games as he has shipped there has to be some stories of damage!

Not very. I have had three claims in seventeen years.
One was the same game twice back in 2009 when Bax global kept loading the crate on its side somewhere between here and CA despite it clearly not being built to do that and marked properly.
That is what cured my reliance on full crates.
The third and last was the Special EBD.
It made it to CA no problem but the driver botched the unpacking of it and ripped a hinge off.
Came back here and took just a few moments to correct. Nothing cosmetic just some pulled out screws. I let the owner know he was going to be way more qualified to unpack and set the game up upon rearrivial than the driver.
Chris,
How do you handle the paint edges when doing stencils like this? Do you just keep building then up then burry them in clear? Keeping each layer at a min thickness probably helps too.
Fathom 1 cabinet is sanded.
The corrections needed from leveling are marked with tape.
I will tackle those tomorrow and then apply the final clear in a matte ratio that will compliment the color and art
