Need to wire my compressor back up now that it is relocated.
image (resized).jpg

Then move the blaster and reassemble that.

image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
#2852 11 months ago

Do you find the bead blaster handy? Is that for nasty metal or do you use it for other things?

I can totally see this little guy having a successful modeling and/or acting career.

Progress is being made to the paint room reconfiguration and prep for new building.

Chris which u prefer KBS is CBS?

This years KBS seems better than last years based off memory.
CBS seems to be a little smoother though.

Microwave stops working
Pull it off the wall and put it on the temporary work bench 9F8FA44C-21D6-4B32-A22E-7C4FF699AD45 (resized).jpeg
Open it up. 4B682FAB-5B14-483D-9653-3BD9D2A2EEB4 (resized).jpeg

It is likely just a switch.
There are three one is tied to the light which was working so rule that out, the other looks to drive the timer which is working.
The upper is believed to handle the heat and turn table which are not.

37DB782F-F3B2-4689-A40A-0192C2A7413E (resized).jpeg

Clean and blow it out.
Remount microwave.
All is well. Cost $0
New exact replacement $750 plus tax.

Time for a new battery and mount it off the board.

I missed the post where the parts for the microwave were tumbled, spray painted some awesome colors, and other parts sent off to be plated.

I'll bet the wiring is a lot neater than the factory if nothing else...

#2866 11 months ago

Compressor is wired and plumbed back and running.
Goal is to get the paint shop functional again during the construction of the new addition.

#2867 11 months ago

Paint shaker ,36 paper holder and vice are relocated. image (resized).jpg

Power from old section redirected into a new outlet for the compressor dryer and a power strip. Tumblers are relocated here from the larger building.

Ahh thumblers tumblers! Nice and quiet! 10,18 or 45?

Definitely pricey though. My dillon cv-2001 crapped out after many years so I tried the thumlers uv18 because I hoped they were quieter, they definitely are but not as big as the dillon. Not sure of they perform any better but time will tell, just got it. I'm splurging for the UV 45, hoping I can do bigger parts in it. Wish I had a bead blaster like Chris but haven't figured out what they work best on.

After years of trial and error I settled on the Thumlers about 10 years ago.
The 18s are the most universal.
I have killed numerous Dillons and even two Thumler UV 45s so I gave up tumbling parts that large and just have those nickel plated or manually polish them myself.

Hopefully I can get it outside for final pictures.

Ready to start stripping the IJ playfield. This one is really rough in the wiring. Everything was spliced inches from the source.
This is a prime example of a restoration that actually did more damage than upgrading.

Looks great! What happened with all the different coin door paint options? Looks like just a slate grey.

#2894 11 months ago

Plumb bob doesn't look centered...probably should start over. ;o)

#2895 11 months ago
Quoted from fossmin:

It just has some subtle blue snd light gray speckling. The base gray is the same gray used to paint the art so it all kind of gels together.
I didn’t want to make it a focal point.

#2896 11 months ago

Looks so nice. How accurate was the Mirco playfield, in terms of dimpling and accuracy?

#2897 11 months ago

Another great one from HEP!
No lighted flipper buttons?

#2898 11 months ago

The IJ solenoid harness is off.
No more splices only connectors.

It amazes me that people go through all of that, including heat shrinking the splice and yet cant be bothered to use $6 stick soldering iron to swap things out correctly.

#2900 11 months ago

Chris, with you redoing the cabinets in those heavy restores... have you considered swapping the games to slide rails vs the pivot point for the playfields? Would seem like a great upgrade for those designs.
