Man, you do such nice work. I'll bet you get great, great satisfaction when the job is done and despite the fact that the do'er always sees the tiny est little flaw, you KNOW you have done a superior job.
My work doesnt compare in any way, form or fashion to your abilities and finished product. I never thought Id ever know the feeling of a 'job was done where the work itself was its own reward." But I have even tho it certainly isnt as nice as your work but as long as you did the best you know how to......and dont let the labrador retriever fur get in the paint........or have the color blindness make your paint choices off,,,,,,
BUT I'm getting off the subject. Way back when in this post you talked about filling the rail holes and making new holes as you put the rails back on. Now that does confuse me a little as the rails only seem to go in one place. at least thats how I think about it. what am I missing on that?
Thanks for sharing,, I really enjoyed the read.
Weeze
PS this is a hurdy gurdy I picked up , used to be owned by a Pittsburg Steelers fan. Haven't started sanding yet.....
Good man. I know it's more hassle to give stuff away than to trash it, but the karma payoff is huge. It's just too bad they don't accept karma at the fishmonger.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Anyone interested in this Whirlwind cabinet?
Has rails. Hinges etc.
color is good.
Be quick it is moments from the saw and dumpster.

Wish I was closer. Someone save it!
EBD wired playfield and empty cabinet
$800.
Come and get it.
Will throw on a pallet and ship as well.
Could probably squeeze the WW cab on there as well but this needs to be hassle free for me or it defeats the purpose of practically giving it away.
Wow.... the benefits of being a collector within driving distance of you would be incredible. Obligatory I wish I was closer for the EBD.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Looks better around here.
Would look better if the Knock Out made its way to the front.

Thanks.
The thing about the rails is that they can vary one side could be an 1/8 off from the other or more.
When it comes to older games all the nail holes make it even more difficult to rely on the old holes.
When you fill all you are starting with a blank slate and can make sure everything is even and symmetrical.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Thanks.

I’ve gone back and forth about continuing to make holes on the underside of the rails I make but rarely get feedback that they are too far off to be usable. Please let me know what you think.

Yours are great. I would keep doing it just as you have been.
Any holes or dimples in just about anything tend to be guidelines more than anything else and having them in there is a big help.

Right on, I know I have asked you in the past and was just hoping you’d give me an out for not drilling out the bottom of the rails. I will carry on.
Went off the rails yesterday with my OCD.
It all started out simple enough just bring the Spirit 2 Cabinet down the hill into the “big building “.
I felt cluttered just by bringing the head in.
Next the following happened.
Moved the workbench
Moved storage cabinet 1
Moved storage cabinet 2
Relocated tumblers
Installed new wire rack
Removed bikes
Took large TV down
Relocated TV with now smaller tV
Eliminated surround sound
Took Medusa plaque out of paint shop installed itvwhere larger tv used to be
Put larger TV in garage
Removed roll around cart.
Reorganized drawers.
That is the short version

That's how most my projects begin!

True. I always start out simple.
Spirit 2 is set up now.
Will use that as refrence to build Spirit 1 Cabinet.

Only one thing doesn't make sense to me . . . why eliminate surround sound?

Was outdated from 2010.
Not worth remounting.

As long as it doesn’t require new holes in the walls I am betting you are safe.
That is what did in the old surround sound here.
Special Whirlwind is coming along.
I thought I would finish it today but turns out the supplied new plastic set” is a junk acrylic version that snaps into pieces far too easily.
I believe these were made years ago by Phoenix Arcades as indicated by the blue film on there.
A new decent set is needed so I just ordered that.

Teardown has begun.

Never done one before so I will restore as I go.
I will do these two items first.
The backboard and the upper playfield.

This will be cool. Can't wait to see the progress!

Excited to watch this one. Will you paint the backboard the match the blue decal better? Guess I'll have to wait and see!!

I think it's awesome that you take such pride in your work that before you install a set of plastics you try and snap them in half to make sure they will hold up.
Tearing down the TSPP further today.
This game has an enormous amount of parts and post.
It is a lot to document with the camera for rebuild.
Really glad we were able to find some ramps because as so teardown I realize just how rough the game is
Good example here.
All tabs with one exception are broken they used big washers to make it work.
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
My first plan of the day is to get the ramps off and swap build those and then go from there.
