Sanding complete time to polish.
[quoted image]
11 sheets of paper used at a cost of roughly $2 per so $22 to sand it which might be a surprise to some people [quoted image]

all dry too? I guess that's why you have the hole versions.. but this fine stuff seems to clog so easily when dry..

Speaking of the realities of being an adult I have to include the occasional disappointment when you find out the 9 miles you just peddled does not count towards the silly goal on the watch

WTF!!!

Just like when you were 14. No worry in the world. No point counting the miles. Just having to decide in which order to hit seven eleven, the game parlor and your girlfriends’ houses.

Looks nice in pictures.
Next thing I plan on lifting is this 2017 Barleywine and Maverick when he gets home from the groomers. image (resized).jpg

Until then it is back to the Dr.

I may have asked this before (or someone else has, so my apologies): I have a hard enough time figuring out/remembering which screw/bolt/nut went where when I take out 1 or 2, how do you do it with hundreds of screws/bolts/nuts/washers/posts on a pin that you have no experience on??

LOL I was just thinking the same thing...

#2209 10 months ago

Can someone be kind enough to tell me what this part is called, and what the correct procedure is to reinstall one correctly that has fallen off the back of a board? It's where the screw goes into the board.

I will go over that as it builds. It does come up often
Here is a basic overview.
T nuts first.
There are usually two sizes used.
The first is a 6/32 or # 6
image (resized).jpg

The second is a 8/32 or #8

image (resized).jpg

Comparative picture
image (resized).jpg

Looking at the playfield since this one is used makes it a bit easier.
I can see the prong marks.
The ones with the smaller center hole are the # 6
image (resized).jpg

The larger center hole are #8 image (resized).jpg

Installed looks like this with that information.

image (resized).jpg
#2212 10 months ago

How to install one.
On a blank playfield drawing it in from the opposite side. With a padded washer and bolt set up.
image (resized).jpg
image (resized).jpg

Populated playfield hard to reach.
Thread bolt in and tap it lightly
Not ideal but works

#2213 10 months ago

T nuts are done.

image (resized).jpg

Jet bumper nails are next.
They look like this
image (resized).jpg

They go in the countersink holes three bumpers means nine nails.

Tapped in

#2214 10 months ago

Playfield rails are next.
These are a Reese rails.
Nice oak replacements.
image (resized).jpg

They are held in with these screws.

Maverick is back from the groomers and ready to play. B91A6BC9-44D2-42B4-8D25-21D4213DEC43 (resized).jpeg

Barleywine has been opened.

Rails are installed.
image (resized).jpg

Now we can start to place the ballguides and post.
How do I know where they go?
It will be a combination of using pictures taken at teardown and common sense.
You can’t rely solely on one or the other it really takes a combination.
Looking at my shop computer here are the pictures I took.
image (resized).jpg

I click on them and it will highlight sections. I can then match things up. image (resized).jpg

Common sense shows the holes and shapes line up when placed.
image (resized).jpg

This is how I will know where the ball guides and post go.
Standard parts are usually secured with these #6 1/2 hex head wood screws.

From a maintenance and cleaning standpoint it is really tough to beat black wafers.

My vote is for 5

#2224 10 months ago

#5 is my vote.

#2225 10 months ago

Black wafers for sure, but the red or yellow body I'm split on. What are the color lights/plastics in the area, may want to compliment those?

Ha, I'm the opposite, yellow body, black skirt. I guess that currently makes me the only #6 (unless I missed a vote). #5 would be my second choice.
