Building the underside of the special EBD now. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg

As requested Maverick rows the boat from both angles.
We started calling it that when an elderly neighbor saw him doing it and yelled “He’s rowing the boat!” and it stuck.

Special EBD underside is coming along.
The lamp boards and mechs are placed to map out the best direction and paths for the new sockets and wiring .

When it comes to the target and areas I trace them out so I will not accidentally have a socket or wire in the way of them if placed.

Love the Maverick videos. Try turning off boomerang mode and I think they will be even better.

Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Love the Maverick videos. Try turning off boomerang mode and I think they will be even better.

Thanks I could spend the whole day on Maverick. He is non stop.

Just about to finally get to work today.
Spent the whole morning with the wife hunting a decent tree. Not a great year for trees in our area we are told.
This was at the first lot we went to

After three lots we finally found something with some potential but still not quite as nice or big as usual. We will see how it relaxes

I gave up natural trees years ago as artificials got so much better. I love a real tree but it is an enormous fire hazard.

#1460 5 years ago
Quoted from robotron911:

I gave up natural trees years ago as artificials got so much better. I love a real tree but it is an enormous fire hazard.

What do you mean? They only hit about 5000 degrees in 5 seconds flat....... is that bad? Seriously though, I remember burning the old dead tree in about March for the first time about 8 years ago and it scared the crap out of me how fast it burned and how hot it got. I had to repaint that side of the house and it was like 10 feet away

We have vacillated back and forth over the years and have a fake tree up in the garage. The last few years we have gone natural to feel more in the holiday spirit. I do hate how the needles seem to jump off the tree though. The wife also hates putting together all the limbs on the fake tree. I know they make ones that just fold up and stay attached but I'm not interested in buying and storing another tree.

#1461 5 years ago

A good friend has a July 4th party every year. We end the day with a campfire. The Grand Finale is him lighting their Christmas tree from the previous year on fire. It burns hot and fast - kind of like the old cartoons - poof, it’s gone. It’s entertaining, but makes you think twice about putting one in your house again.

#1462 5 years ago

Best thing about a live Christmas tree is sinking it next spring for some great crappie fishing!

#1463 5 years ago

Its a live tree or no tree in this house but it has its pluses and minuses like anything else.
Mama wants a live tree and that is what she will get!!

Head is decaled.
This required an extra step with these decals as they are onset like Shadow or some other games.

That extra step was refinishing the bordered edge to seal and clean them up. 81CA6CD2-2E2A-4A10-A9A5-44FBCA70AA49 (resized).jpeg81CA6CD2-2E2A-4A10-A9A5-44FBCA70AA49 (resized).jpeg

I have cleaned and polished all sling style switches and will wire them individually also.

Thanks.
It lives and almost all bulbs are working which is a surprise to me considering the amount of work it took to adapt the lamp boards.
There are just three to check. 3x,12 and 15.
Everything else works.

That was just a bulb wiggle. But the other three are a little deeper. Shouldn’t take much to figure out.
My best quick guess is reseating the wires in the IDC.

Hopefully it is not a BLY lamp board issue?!?!

Almost there on the Special EBD.
image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg

I had to switch the rack lamps(1-15s)on both lamp banks to incandescents.

Even with the Alltek and other provisions the strobing was a little too noticeable on a few of them so to match up they were all changed.
Everything else works well with the LEDs including the GI

Special EBD is all set just waiting for some score cards.
I didn’t have any on hand that works well with the black apron. Once I get them I will take final pics.
New Shay backglass is very nice. Really close to the original and not fragile.

Holy shit Batman! Best looking pin I've ever seen. Just when you've thought you've seen perfection from Chris, like every restore, he creates this. Outstanding job to say the least. I thought the 81' EBD you did a couple years ago in the standard colors was perfect, but this tops it. Bravo

Just got an update on my condenser fan motor.
They said it would ship to them from the manufacturer on 12-4 now they are changing that to 12-12. Not surprised
I checked every place the part number comes up from here to Canada and they all say the same thing so I continue to wait.
I did buy two oil filled radiant heaters and place them in opposite sides of the building. They are working nicely. $300 for those as I wait for the $200 motor to fix the $2500 unit.
I love numbers!

Is it just me or does that shooter lane actually resemble a pool cue?

It does.
Those early IPB playfields used the exact same stock and printer as the originals.
Even has the Weber playfield stamp on it.

Another incredible restoration Chris. The results of your work are spectacular.
It has to be tough owning one of your restoration's…… I would have to be very selective about who touches/plays the game due to fear of any type of damage or blemish being inflicted.
I really enjoy following this thread and hope that you continue posting for a long time to come.

They’re made to be played, just not abused. In a home it should last practically forever. I wouldn’t let unsupervised kids or drunks play. I think most damage in home environments come from transport, errant bumps and scratches, etc.

The highlights are as pictured but will know more once Mylar is removed and it is thoroughly cleaned.

I really like the idea of adding those skid rails to the back/bottom of the CAB.
Is that standard for all your restorations?
