Dirty Harry PR finished.
Dirty Harry PR finished.
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Another day into the Congo playfield. It was kind of rough but turned the corner quickly.
The majority of issues were in the natural wood.
Bloody amazing.
Can't get over how dialed in your playfield repairs are.
And what a rescue on the shooter lane, from dog shit to ducks nuts.
Matt.
Quoted from fattmatt1972:from dog shit to ducks nuts.
That's a new one for me, haha! But I guess if you were English, it'd be a much shorter trip as in: from dog shit to the dog's bollocks.
Refinished the Congo door.

I found an NOS translite. This game came in with an alternate translite but the quality was poor. C0147B21-A3C1-480C-87CA-8CB207923D06 (resized).jpeg
Placed the trim. Was able to talk the owner into black legs and hinges so the green is not too overwhelming.
A think a Congo won "Best of Show" at TPF four or five years ago (the first time I attended a show and was a little overwhelmed, so my memory may not be completely accurate). Not really a title that interest me that much, but I really enjoyed seeing and playing a well-restored version of it. I'm sure your iteration will equal or surpass that one and the owner should be very happy.

good call on the black legs/hinges, less is more with bright green
The Youtube video on the Dirty Harry brought that game to a new level. Absolutely incredible workmanship on all these games Chris. Thank you for taking the extra time to document, video, and explain many of your processes, etc., to us that just gotsta know. Thank you.
Making good progress on the Congo.

shinny ball guides, yum--
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:I love that bright green on my AFMr LE, but you haven't sold me yet on Congo.
I would actually hate it on anything myself.Filling orders here.
Quoted from punkin:It is. It's going to the owner who want's it that colour.
Yikes!
Quoted from mollyspub:Yikes!
It’s like fixing hamburgers.
Sometimes you have to put things on them you wouldn’t eat.
Quoted from epeabs:Merry Christmas Chris. Hope you and your family have the best.
Quoted from jazc4:Chris, thanks for the gifts all year around you give us. Merry Christmas!
Thank you both. Hope you guys and everyone else has a great Christmas!
I am back at it I can only find so many non pinball things to do in a week.
Finally getting into some slow rollers around here.

I thought this was my last IJ but a few more showed up. image (resized).jpg
Decided to put some of my furniture staining materials to use while I was into that.
ES BP finished.
This one was a bit of a mess to start with.
Crappy weather so just some random pictures. I made a two color display up for it.
Not only the quality blows my mind but also the speed and organization this man works with. It is next level.
By the time I brush my teeth in the morning, Chris clear coated 4 cabinets and restored 3 pf, refinished his furniture, walked the dog, worked out and made lunch.
How do you protect the cabinet from the legs digging in? After all that work painting, I’d be scared to add legs.
More IJs.

Alright, which one of you freaks out there is sending all of their Sys80 playfields to Chris and making me fawn over them.
Furthermore, when they're all finished, can I come over.
Quoted from xsvtoys:Just watched the new AFM video on YouTube. That. Was. Amazing. What an experience to see exactly what needs to be done on a NOS replacement playfield, and to see the actual clear coat being shot in the paint booth.
I could not agree more. I have an AFM and a Mirco playfield that I wanted to swap in (the original is really worn out).
But man, the clear on that Mirco in the video is an absolute disaster... I bought mine a year ago but still, I guess my best option is to sand, re-clear, cliffys everywhere, and maybe slap a piece of Mylar where the ball lands from the VUK. Hope that it won't chip away
The Shadow(RK) is pulled for teardown.
Nervous about this one looks to have a bunch of things unplugged and no vent screen in the back with bolts falling out of it
Probably going to YouTube that one.

Another huge fan of HEP's YouTube videos here and especially the latest AFM.
Just watched the Shadow video - since you seemed surprised/annoyed by what you were unpacking, I'm curious to know if the person who sent that game to you understands what they actually sent? Or did they have it shipped to you directly from whoever they bought from and potentially have no idea that it was in the condition that it showed up in? I guess these may not be questions that you can answer in an open forum here, so consider them hypothetical if needed.
I would hope someone would at LEAST have the wherewithal to warn you - "hey, I'm sending something that once resembled a game but it's in pieces", but I guess I shouldn't be shocked that you get "surprises" like this once in a while.

Often people are truly getting took and are just as surprised as I am.
There is a growing number of games coming in that were originally someone else’s project and they either could not complete it (personal owner) or it was abandoned,or being mishandled (“professional” business “) then basically reclaimed and redirected here.
I try to guard myself against that because I can’t make a living if all I am given to work on are the worst projects possible regardless of whether I can do it or not. Sometimes it just works out that way though.
Often people will send the easy stuff somewhere else and try to only send me the tough ones.
This is why I normally reject anything for a first time customer that isn’t fairly straightforward and also why you will see me take on some really odd and challenging projects for frequent customers.
