Quoted from Tophervette:

Good luck finding those lamp sockets. I looked for months, and finally found some used ones in Argentina from a guy Xpablo. I needed 37 of them in white and 10 in black (flashers). Though there is no difference other than color. Rewiring them has been a trip. I am sure there is a tool for that, but I used a thin blade screwdriver to push the wires in.

Someone could make a small $$$ if they could have some made....I need about 40 or so.

Almost done with the KW Diner.
There been a lot to sort out with this one.

I looked into having them made but no one seemed to have any interest.
That’s something I really think is off about the current parts market. They make so much stuff no one really needs or wants but when you approach them about a real need they are not interested.
Usually if I need something then it will be a good seller because I will either need it often or adopt the part into my standard procedures.
We definitely need these sockets. Alternatively I use staple downs but it is much more time consuming.

Got a little spatter on that coin door, might want to check your spray nozzle.

Got me thinking . . . on the right pin matching black spattered legs might look really nice.

I meant it wasn't registering that the chick on her back was part of the shooter rod (I'm sure you knew what I was saying, but I appreciate the jab). I was wondering why Chris had that plastic woman sitting on top of the pinball machine.

#10966 2 years ago

That shooter rod. It’s so big! It’s a handful. I wash my hands every time I touch it.
Curtis seemed excited when he saw it. The Sopranos that is. Curtgotti was one of his video game names I remember.

Moving on to this one. It’s going to be done HEP style. It’s pretty sad right now but it’s a $500 barn find and I would bet the guy that actually found either got it for free or paid less than $200.

That shooter rod would go right on a shelf in my arcade, with a spotlight on it, surrounded by neon. Maybe above my Future Spa.

I hate the moulded shooter rods. They look and feel dirty, especially in the covid age.

Diner KW is all done just waiting on the plastic chrome jukebox.
That’s one of the worst things about having to outsource.
Some parts you can get out in front of but when they are very game specific all you can do is send them out and wait.
Should have it back in a few more days.

This will go quickly compared to the other but I am still adding serviceability.
It’s hard not to the game has so many mechs and a tilt only playfield.

Kind of a silly thing, but I always love seeing just how clean the inside of your cabinets are when you're done with them. The detail you put into both the exposed and hidden areas is a testament to your professionalism.

I do have a question regarding how you paint the cabinet interiors. I've noticed that some are fully painted on the sides while others transition from color to bare wood towards the bottom (don't recall if you've done painted bottoms or not). What criteria determine how you choose to paint the inside of a cabinet?

Thanks
My preference personally is fully painted sides and forty fives. This is the cleanest look.
If trying to keep something a bit more original looking when it matters in the case of a factory style build like the FH prototype I will maintain the original look with the partial coverage down the sides.
Only when you are talking about rare games or specific request is that noteable for me. It’s easier but just doesn’t look as complete.

Teardown was a little more involved than I thought it would be.
Much of the hardware was seized in the T nuts. That’s something you run into occasionally on System 11 games.
Heat it up and remove or it will snap. This can be a lot of hardware not all is easily replaced. 9D0EF23B-B5A8-4F13-8A73-631EF4A29DBD (resized).jpeg9D0EF23B-B5A8-4F13-8A73-631EF4A29DBD (resized).jpegEEFD4886-7352-42C5-AC66-5B30EC63ADDF (resized).jpegEEFD4886-7352-42C5-AC66-5B30EC63ADDF (resized).jpeg

Now today it’s Marshall’s birthday. 22 years old for this guy. Still happy with SpongeBob cakes and a trip to the movies etc.
In the past on some of his birthdays I would feel a bit down on all the things it seems he is missing out on but these days I just kind of see the joy in it for him to essentially be forever young.

Chris,

Glad you have "come around" to that way of thinking. In the end with the world the way it is today I think Marshall is one of the "lucky ones" and the rest of us are just waiting for the "what can go wrong next".

Your post always inspire me but your post today really got me thinking about "kids" like Marshall and how they are truly blessed in a lot of ways.

Keep up the great work on all fronts!

I think it's nice that you share the behind the scenes events in your life, the kids, cooking, exercise etc. Seems you're as good at parenting as you are at restoring. Life throws us challenges that interfere with work sometimes, I think everyone can relate to that!

Curtis and his helper started tearing down the next Earthshaker.
I can turn them loose of certain types of games.
Criteria for that is
1) Getting pretty much all new everything
2)I am well versed and documented in the title.

ES cabinet is prepped and ready to prime. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Kiss is next. Each one needs a different shade of primer. The Kiss cabinet like any Bally cabinet of that era needs a lot of scrutiny and fitting of things like the backglass before getting too far.
