I have some chrome coming in today for the STTNG so I can get moving forward on that finally. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Gutting the SC frees up some space to get the base game in image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Although I am still dealing with the aftermath
Sometimes you just have a goal for the day and getting that cabinet going was mine yesterday.

Yes. That will lift your level of exhaustion very quickly
It’s actually outdoor push sled. The motor acts against you the harder and faster you push it. You can add plates to it to make it even worse.
Nice to get more of a indoor style workout outdoors sometimes but requires gadgets.

Yeah. That must have been a 4th of July workout judging by the clothes. I am easily supplying the white portion

It's amazing how much fun and fitness you can get from a couple of balls though too.

Back to my SC cabinet.
Working the seams. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Still working on stripping the back.
Lots of glue there were seven different labels on it.

That looks cool. Boxing workouts are a really good way to get fit.
Some days I am just as happy with a timer,a kettlebell and a jump rope as I am with all this equipment.

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

All fine questions but I should have clarified to put them in the comments portion of the Q&A videos.
I don’t want to clutter Pinside with YT stuff.

I don't think anyone here would view that as clutter. Link the youtube video, it will embed it, and people can watch or not. I can make a "VIDEO:" tag in the keypost index to make them searchable by machine. Like "VIDEO: Addams Family Pop Bumpers" etc.

Taking a break from the rough stuff today and assembling my TZ playfield. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
Even on an original style build I prefer to use the black post and wafers with the transparent bodies.
Amazingly the owner though a purist was on board with that. image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg

It was nice to have to new stainless ramp flaps again.
I reached out to Kerry at Mantis a couple months ago to see if he was interested in making them since Pinbits went dark.
He was so I sent TZ,TAF and IJ
Didn’t take long and they look great. Going to try and get some more off to him to fatten up the library. The good thing about Kerry after knowing him for many years is that he is reliable and completely capable of getting things done so it’s going to be a great source for these moving forward.

CV arrived this week! I am blown away! The packaging is second to none, and even the lumber is pristine! I mean even the 2x4’s are the nicest I’ve ever seen.

And the custom ziplock bags? It’s the nice little touches like this that show how much thought and care goes into everything.

I’d give Metallica or RFM the boot before TBL (but selling TBL would likely bring the most!)

what's up with that Tommy set up in your shop? a project for later? Missing something?

I have two of them.
Both are going to be painted cabinets so I have to get the cabinets painted before teardown. It’s a pretty tricky paint job. Probably going to do something different with the second one. We will see.
Main reason that game is sitting there like that is because it was delivered right into that room but it’s coming up soon.

I did a custom apron set for a Tommy owner based on the Union Jack, and he really liked it. I think you putting your creative touches on this title would be fun to see and a real treasure for the owner/buyer.

Both have owners but only one is adamant about the original scheme so the other will be up to me within reason I am sure.
Usually when I do these I am trying to do factory art with better or alternative choices. Being my fourth painted Tommy cabinet I am ready to see what I can do with one in terms of color and shading. As usual I will have no plan I will just get started and see where it goes.

Chris, thank you SO Much for the video documentation!

I have already learned so much from you (and @vid1900) that I owe you both credit for every restore I do. The documentation here is one (incredibly great) thing, but being able to watch you in motion is another! Just being able to observe the your sanding patterns and then the speed of each HVLP pass and coverage as you move across the cabinet was VERY helpful!

Please keep them coming!

Quoted from killerrobots:

I don't want to direct you one way or the other but if you are looking for questions here are some things that interest me:
- I was interested in seeing you use a silk screen for the back-box warning and was wondering if that was something a casual restorer should look into or if that is best left to the pros.
- It seems like you you aren't doing a lot of playfield repainting but if you every did one I would love to see details about what paint you use, what masking material, and how you deal with waterslides/decals over inserts...
- It would be interesting to see your opinions on the pros/cons for various plating and powdercoating options.
- Maybe more of a philosophical one but when doing a restoration how do you know when to stop....what is adding value and what is diminishing returns. How much effort to put in to areas know one will see. How do you gage what is good enough? What is absolutely necessary and what is just gilding?
