Quoted from jgentry:

C37 arrived home last night. The only thing as impressive as HEP's restores is his prep for shipping. Thanks Chris.
[quoted image]

Is that the same spot your WNBJM used to occupy?

#9652 17 days ago
Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Thank you Joesph! Looks even better over there than it did here.
Did it work properly after set up or did it need any adjustments?
That’s something that always makes me nervous about EMs.

One drop needed a tiny adjustment, otherwise it was put the legs on, plug in 4 wires, and start playing.

Quoted from ToucanF16:

It is, I never should have sold that game lol. That's the only one I have ever really missed and wished I would have held on to.

That’s great. I usually can’t even move one from one side of the room to the other without having to track something down.

Chris:

Glad to see that you are branching out!

Looks like you got the business slogan correct.

High End Plumbing

#9658 17 days ago

Wish i had some of that. My body is used and abused.

#9659 17 days ago

True plumbing story. Well kind of.
Around 2006 I was out with Curtis shopping for a live Christmas tree.
The guy running the tree lot was nice ,it was his first year doing that and he in turn was fairly negotiable.
I told him I appreciate him working with me as at that time I was also just starting my own small business and it was going to be a tight holiday.
He shook my hand and told me
Merry Christmas Mike!
I didn’t think much about it. Not important that he know my name and I had no idea why he thought it was Mike.
When I got home with the tree I told my wife about the strange exchange.
She’s says “It’s your sweatshirt!”
I look down and it’s one of those kind of joke ones that says Mike’s Plumbing with a cartoon character hitting a pipe with a hammer

Put some time in the Mystic playfield today. It’s been one massive wire job after another lately but it’s what happens here among other things.

First I mapped all the sockets out. This game uses many. 87A0D0FA-B5C6-46A3-B3F4-2428758E1469 (resized).jpeg762F330A-CBF7-43D1-AF41-1C885651FF10 (resized).jpegE4197DFC-E187-4DB0-9784-FF24FEF96F33 (resized).jpeg

Now working on removing the original harness. 2D1533A2-9411-4315-946D-37A5D2DE385B (resized).jpeg
One thing that is a time saver is soldering matching wire to each socket. It will be a quick and easy way to identify each socket during the rewire.

This thread is amazing, I have a number of restores I am doing (hobby) but I am struggling to find where I can buy parts in bulk, specifically the various types of striped wire, lamp sockets (various types), screws (various types used with the GI sockets and coil brackets). All have been pictured in this thread however, assistance would be greatly appreciated

TIA

The rest of my latest wire order finally arrived. [quoted image]
My wire restock/expansion is now complete. This should give me everything for Williams,WPC,-95 ,Bally SS ,DE and Stern.
Not even trying to get into that Gottlieb wiring

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Made a good dent in the cabinets sitting n the prep room.
Three are ready to prime.
ES,STTNG and TZ [quoted image]
Working on the SOF now. [quoted image]
Still have TAF,SBM and Sorcerer to prep.
I decided to get them all ready
[quoted image]

love to see your work, it is next level and very inspiring.

Question, when you are prepping the cabs, do prime, paint AND clear? I am asking because I am planning a restore and I am learning from the best on Pinside.. hehe.
I am wondering if decals can be put over clear?
Also, I noticed you mentioned guide coat? (sorry if this is not the right term) is this a type of paint to make defects pop?

thanks!

Buying all of the correct striped wire is a very expensive proposition. Here's a way to make your own very respectable striped wire on demand:
- buy a set of oil-based paint pens with the colours you need
- get a 3" long piece of dowel, drill a 1/8" hole across it in one end
- put the dowel into a drill
- clamp one end of your wire to a vice or similar; thread the other end through the dowel
- run the drill with the wire taut until you get it turned about every 1-2" (or however you like it striped)
- run the pen down the wire (a long wire may need a helper)
- untwist the wire, hang to dry

Still working on the playfield rewire but it’s getting there. 44A2AC12-8271-4F04-8D19-9894E5DD1993 (resized).jpegimage (resized).jpg
This is what’s left over from the old one so not too much reused.

TOTAN is almost done.
This one has gone fairly smoothly
Hopefully all these aftermarket boards and mods work well together.
This is always a little tough to absorb and support because it so far from factory and can introduce strange issues to troubleshoot if something pops up.
I will work on buttoning all this up neatly.

Not that they are the same, but I have a virtually identical setup in my Getaway (RD power driver board WDB089, PinSound +, and PS DMD Lux) and everything operates perfectly, so unless there are actual issues with components on the boards (I've had to make a couple of repairs on my RD board) you should be golden.

Mystic playfield wiring is complete. Many upgrades done to the underside.

image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
#9677 13 days ago

Playfield is placed in the cabinet of the Mystic.
Much easier to get the the top plastic screws and set the flippers with the resting brackets. These are technically turned backwards in terms of how they would be placed on a Williams game but it is necessary to keep the sling brackets clear of the cabinet in the resting position.

Powered up for testing. I need to swap the bulbs out in the backbox lamp panel. Someone color flooded those.

Trying to get a little breathing and elbow room to start painting the ES sample game cabinet.
I have done the standard ES cabinet version paint job and that was really hard.
Thinking I could just change colors to do the sample version I started mapping that out and exploring it in my mind.
Soon I realized it was going to take many extra hours and a lot of manual cut out with color stacking issues if I were going to use my standard ES stencil. I could do it but I would lose a lot of extra time and effort.
I then tapped my buddy Jeff the pinball Pimp to rework them so hopefully it won’t be too much worse than the standard package but I know heading into it there are five colors to paint (red, white, yellow, orange, and black) plus the fades and transitions in the lettering.

They’re really not hard to build if you know basic woodworking. Just get the lock miters nice and tight.

yeah I can build this no problem, the only issue is lack of time as I work 2 jobs, I would rather save myself this step.

I agree they're pretty easy, but I'd put locking mitre joints a little above basic woodworking! Those things are not exactly easy to get nice and tight... possible yes... much easier with a good router table and lift with micro adjustments!
