Spirit 4 done.

Back to the Knockout.
I placed the rails and arch on the playfield and it was just a little to clean looking.
I don’t mind changes at all if they are upgrades but I also don’t mind going a different direction if I don’t like the look.
It has to look right in my eyes to proceed. If it doesn’t I change it.
I realized the issue with the arch and rails weren’t so much the color yellow but the inconsistency of it between the rails(golden yellow) and arch(pea green) so I matched the yellow on the apron as well as possible for its age and painted those items that color. 9EE5858C-DFD7-48DB-AF38-2105167B05B6 (resized).jpeg
Painted and cleared. 61528C1D-C64B-484A-958B-D1C38FEE2EFD (resized).jpeg
The apron was masked and painted the same white as the cabinet. 55DC83E8-E6CE-46C0-BE70-24EF1C70FCDD (resized).jpeg
I cleared it but will need to do another pass once again when I deal with the yellow and black. Aprons don’t get much credit here but they are a lot of work.
Next I wanted to make some spinners that better matched the theme and color scheme.
These are the originals pre stripping and refinishing earlier 1CCC7744-8C01-4C4B-AB0F-A1E73EC78CCC (resized).jpeg
I had refinished them already so it was about making some art that I can apply and bury in clear later.
I played with the Cameo and some materials I had. Wanting to keep it simple and in the footprint of the spinner as well as fitting the scheme snd theme I came up with this. BCAA31C7-223A-4CFF-9959-DCDF219F01E9 (resized).jpeg
Looks promising a little more vivid based on the materials I have but close enough for the playfield.

Is it just the starburst on the back of the spinner so it looks like the KO is blinking when you rip the spinner?
Quoted from PinMonk:Is it just the starburst on the back of the spinner so it looks like the KO is blinking when you rip the spinner?
You'd want it the other way around so you only get the KO when you rip the spinner.
Quoted from slicknick13:You'd want it the other way around so you only get the KO when you rip the spinner.
Yeah, I think the KO would remain and then the "kapow" background would flash if one was to do it that way.
Some good observations.
I like the consistency of the color scheme on the spinners but understand there should be some effect so what I did was reverse the scheme on the backside and invert it
That should do something visually when it spins .
I won’t clear and lock it down until I place and test it though.

Very nice. Being the expert restorer that you are, I'm impressed you were open to trying other's ideas. I'm sure you get plenty of unsolicited bad ideas, but I agree that this one worked out great.

Not sure why, but some of my favorite pics you post show all of your wire spools in the background. Kind of reminds me of my 3D printer filament cabinet.
Quoted from rockwell:Your work is really inspiring. I see that Spirit machine in my dreams
it was in mine too!
Chris, I was thinking about protecting your brand.
This might be what you want as well as the burned brand

Another week of the Knockout.
This one has proven to be a much longer term project than I thought it might be but it is finally starting to close out.
Over the weekend I manually masked and painted the apron.
Cleared that along with the spinners. It’s the associated parts details that can really add up and become a very time consuming process on top of the usual cabinet and playfield portions.

One will ruin the authenticity the other will ruin the gameplay so it was reworked with a proper balance in mind .
The underside was repaired and refinished as well.

Then I proceed. Placing the painted rail first.

Next trying to sort out this Centaur conversion.
It is more complicated than it seems.
The layout of the boards in the head renders the Centaur 2 head harness pretty much useless without creating a bunch of adapters. C64155E0-6E20-4B08-89F1-F74C74F2F2BE (resized).jpeg

Next is my nephews computer case. He is doing some crazy build with liquid cooling and all that.
He is also a car nut obsessed with his Acura something or another and he wanted his case painted to match his car.I tore that down and laid it all out 47745CD5-FA6B-44C0-B8DB-12B58F875ADB (resized).jpeg
I was able to paint the chassis complete inside and out but only one side of the flat parts. The inside. Will have to flip and refinish the rest later.

I know that well but sometimes I still inexplicably like to do something wrong
Thanks for the checking behind me. Corrected.
I probably wouldn’t have even noticed until later.
Thanks for reminding me that I need a new die grinder! Even though the wife says I have enough tools, My reply is that I can never have enough tools!!
And as always, Great job!!
I am wiring away on the Knockout.

Quoted from rockwell:I love the in-progress playfield wiring images. What's the logic behind using the LEDs on the rollovers?
Regular bulbs are often hard to clear the switch that will go there.
I can position the LEDs better to clear everything.
I use warm white for everything with exception of those roll overs where I used natural white to give the green a little distinction.

I love your posts both pin and beer related. Obviously, you tend towards the higher gravity stouts. Any chance you can mention the really great ones you get so I can pursue those? Thanks.

Did my Playboy side rails, pop bumper discs, and flippers in black. I like it much better than the pink. Sorry, no pictures as I’m out of town for the weekend.
Chris, Shipping has been horrible. What have you had the most luck with as far as receiving shipments? I have something to send South.

Thought about that scheme as well but haven’t gotten that far nor ask the owner of the game.
Crazy thing is I have only done one Playboy and it was eight years ago.

Same goes for Kiss.
It’s crazy that I have done more King Kongs in total than Playboys and Kiss machines combined.

UPS seems to be the most reliable these days.
USPS is terrible of course but starting to get back to reality.
FedEx has always been hit or miss for me personally but I know that any of these services vary local to local.
All the lamp sockets are finally replaced in the knockout.
