This thread is one of the things I'm thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving Chris and thanks for taking the extras time to document your restorations here!
Quoted from Calfdemon:...and thanks for taking the extras time to document your restorations here!
I’ll second that. I know it takes lotta time for Chris to update this thread. But it’s always the first place I look when I sign on the Pinside every day.
This thread is a total win win. Chris gets awesome advertising and those of us that aspire can get our fix. It’s perfect and I’m thankful for it! Keep it coming and Happy Thanksgiving!

Actually, this thread is also good for making me realize my pinball restoration inadequacies.

Plus one
What’s going on? No updates from HEP for a week now? Hopefully just a Thanksgiving break.
I know how much time it must take to document and post this information and the community really appreciates it and admires the work. Great stuff. Looking forward to more posts soon.

I will try to catch it up a bit. Last week was tough because my mom had some emergency medical issues and it just made me not want to focus my energy here until I felt she was in a better spot and that looks to be the case so we continue on.
Here we go.
Finished the SC project.
I sanded and polished the Cyclopes playfield so I anticipate finishing that up this week.
I found a way to get Curtis back into the workout program.
I push him up the hill on the sled.
With the weights ,Curtis and the ball it comes in at about 400lbs plus the motor resistance. The neighbors likely think I am insane but I enjoy myself. 30E903CE-AA5E-43DF-B428-802DFCD11743 (resized).jpeg

Then the Black Friday BCBS acquisition
Quoted from edward472:I'm just here to see how the Christmas village is coming along.
It’s coming along slowly.
My wife is very meticulous and slow.

Looks wonderful!
Hope your Mom is ok and that you and your family have a great Thanksgiving.
This thread is a great read and adds to the positive vibe of Pinside. Love how you always stay professional and positive. That with the craftsmanship, great beer and food updates makes this an awesome thread to browse while watching football and having a brew.
You deserve a Twippy award.

My wife is the same. She'll redecorate three or more times before it's "right"
Chris. Glad to hear your mom is doing better. Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving. Happy to see you be able to clear your thoughts and get back in the shop.
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:What color ramps are you putting in SF? I recently did some themed vinyl decals for a guy who was putting clear ramps in his and wanted something to hide the coil under the right ramp at bottom. Would be happy to share files with you or send you a set if you were interested.
I don't have a pic of the decals actually installed, but here they are along with a pic of the test fitting on plain paper.
[quoted image][quoted image]
I used red ramps but these look cool.
I think I have one more SC here to do and would definitely use them on that.

Just PM me if/when you decide you would like a set.
Just received pics of the restoration that I designed these for. Again, PM me when ready and I'm happy to send you a set.
As far as quality/process goes, I designed and produced these like most all of my decals:
- Printed using a 6 color photo printer on high quality adhesive gloss white vinyl
- I then apply a clear gloss vinyl on top for durability and protection
- The decals are then cut to shape using a home vinyl/craft cutter
Quoted from High_End_Pins:After polishing the playfield and assembling the cabinet I am just about ready to do the final assembly off the TAFTW project.
Really like this project. Hope you'll be uploading some more videos!

Thanks for the last videos! Beautifully and skillfully done. Very impressive how fast you can you such a project at this quality level. Your customer must be excited to finally get the high class pin he was looking for.
nice work on the video's
everyone, make sure to add HEP for youtube videos for the Twipy nominations
Hoping everything is still okay with your mom Chris, and everyone else for that matter! Going through some serious HEP withdrawals over here and check numerous times a day to see if there is any new activity. Its my favorite thread on Pinside and the first one I check every time I log in.
Hopefully you are just on a holiday break trying to get your Christmas shopping done! lol

Thanks all is well here just took a break from Pinside for a bit.
It’s been business as usual in the background.
FH is almost done.
This one rivals the TAF train wreck.
It was one of those games where if it wasn’t rusty broken or beat it was flat out missing or wrong.
I was able to come up with everything that was missing and after many extra hours of soldering and all new hardware you will never know it was the water logged turd it once was. Ever!!
Cyclopes is coming along also.
Hope to have both the FH and Cyclopes done this week.
Playfield
Inside.
Amazing work as always Chris. From the gorgeous job you did to my ToTAN years back, a perfect job on my BoP and now, the finest Funhouse in the land. It's true, this machine was an absolute turd but it was purchased early into my pin collecting hobby on eBay years back before I knew any better. I knew if anyone could turn my FH around it would be you. Blessed to be one of your loyal patrons Chris. Your skills never cease to amaze and I am proud to have your impeccable work represented in my collection. Can't wait for Rudy to come back home! Thank you!!!

Congrats, looks amazing indeed!
Hey Chris, I saw this in another thread, and thought it might be something you want to add to your pinball cabinet repair tool bag.

Pretty cool. I suppose noodles and super glue are the equivalent of plastic but I would really need to consult with my uncle Roger though he’s an expert on rice.
FH ready to move out. 15D73617-F115-46AB-9BE3-3AEB00FD4488 (resized).jpeg
TOM is a semi restore.
Just focusing mostly on the playfield trim etc. it’s for a local.
Starting to get a little deeper into my Knockout project.
Typical EM.
Burnt coils, funny smells and cloth wiring
Not so typical missing floor.
Christmas beer roll out.
Had a couple bottles that I really thought looked like a poison bottle so we converted one with the cameo.
Short week this week with Christmas this Friday so I will skip my normal Sunday routine and work a bit more.
TOM is supposed to really just be a playfield and trim swap and I usually avoid that type of work because it almost never is that simple.
Playfield is just about ready to pull out of the cabinet. 88657F76-1F45-4885-A559-7D0CE71A37FA (resized).jpeg
Said to have full LEDs .True enough unfortunately it is of the color flooding variety.
That mentality of if a plastic is purple then surely it would look best with a purple LED under type of thinking throughout this playfield. B82AB542-4705-4F52-8E56-3D64E264EA45 (resized).jpeg

As much as we often criticize playfield manufacturers I have to say when it comes to some titles like TOM I am extremely grateful.
By the time you pull the wireguides and deal the aftermath of that along with the insert wear in the book you would be looking at quite a tedious playfield restoration.
It’s one I have done many times over the years and I don’t miss it a bit.
With the playfield out I can better see what it will take to make the cabinet a nice home for the new playfield and trim without completely stripping it and redoing it inside and out. 0AAAD5F6-C431-4F0A-A1E8-BDBBC32AF716 (resized).jpeg
It’s a bigger mess than I expected in there.
There were all types of wires going to the external power supply(that wasn’t grounded btw)972A9260-6F94-42A5-BCDB-35B1216CCB42 (resized).jpeg
It does include a spare trunk board ,clear plastic protectors and a toothbrush. CE5AF3A8-4EAF-41D6-BBAE-59662380DEBD (resized).jpeg
It’s hard to work around things and do a thorough job even in a abbreviated version of the process so I just bite the bullet and gut it. F9F72BE6-C076-4610-AB4A-BA14FE9A78D4 (resized).jpeg

The cabinet art on the head is pretty nice has a small chip that someone glued back on.
Could be a little better there but I am not going to open that can of worms. 747C0C01-1568-407C-8FAD-7123FD1DF134 (resized).jpeg
What I can do is clean it up well and smooth the face up. 66606D51-36E7-4339-8C75-BDA0783214F7 (resized).jpeg

Chris, what are you using to just clean the face up? Is it bondo? Once you sand out, is there any other filler or glazing type putty that you use to fill imperfections? I think I've read it in this thread before, but sometimes hard to find it again.

I use half time for that. It is something in between regular bondo and glazing putty
If I were doing this in normal HEP fashion I would prime and sand it but since this is just a bit of a cabinet refresh I smoothed it and rattle canned it. 9C55795D-2FCA-43A9-8C26-7266A98B1FF3 (resized).jpeg
Not perfect but much improved with a reasonable time and effort expenditure. 6977EBFC-BCA3-4D92-B677-70F2E0B64F94 (resized).jpeg

I called it in my head when I saw the post where you mentioned the glued chip. There's no way Chris is gonna let this go.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who suffers from this "positive" albeit maddening trait.
Stuff looks great, thanks for taking the time to post pictures and explanations.
