Congrats Grandpa.
Congrats to father and grandfather. Maverick may end up being the happiest one of the bunch... baby toys look ALOT like chew toys.
Thanks guys.
I can’t believe that Curtis is 22 let alone a father even past that that at 47 I am a grandfather but it is probably better to get a head start on everything
I just cooked some steaks and ordered a car seat/stroller.Next thing will be a crib. We had a perfect one left from the boys but about two years ago after moving it from the attic to the shop to storage back to the warehouse we finally decided to toss it since Curtis swore he and his girlfriend were never having kids!

Darn! I wanted to see the HEP restoration thread on that crib.
I know there are many threads about Mirco quality issues...
And I absolutely LOVE that there is a person/company that is reproducing these playfields....
But Man, I wish the guy had just a little more attention to detail. Those dimples are bad. Those 16th of an inch really matter. Makes it SO much harder for an average hobbyist to replace a playfield.
But thank you to HEP for documenting your process.

AND... toddlers are an infinite source of dropped food! Be patient Maverick, be patient...
In a couple months Maverick will be constantly hanging out below the high chair and scanning the floor!
Quoted from High_End_Pins:It provides the same connection or continuity on top or below the socket.
I prefer below because it makes socket removal for bulb changes easiest.
Ok, that makes sense.
Congratulations to Curtis and his new family. I remember the days when my son and I would stop by, they would look each other up and down, Curtis had a football and without words they disappeared, later to find them tossing the football in the street. That same day I loaded a CH restored TZ for $3000. Time flies.

I remember those days too seems like just a couple years ago not almost decades. Time really does fly.
Quoted from ToucanF16:Very nice! You’ll be super experienced by the time you get to Spirit #4!
Yeah. The difference in what I know now and the speed of which #3 unfolded compared to #1 is night and day
It isn’t the title itself that was the issue it was the platform and figuring out to HEP that platform to the same level I have developed for other platforms in a streamlined manner that took time and experience.
3 was the worst but the first to arrive but I could have never taken 3 to this level without the experience I gathered on better condition 1 and 2.
The Doona is a sic stroller. We have one for my wife when she travels to see me. We love it. Congrats to everyone. Pretty cool that you are a grandpa.
Quoted from Stretch7:Great to see you take the time to get it right.
It really is alot of extra work when dimples are not correct or missing....especially if you dont have an original to work off.
Im finding these aftermarket playfield mfg should worry about the quality of dimpling just as much as the quality of clear and printing process.
in a perfect world, yes
however, given that even today, most of the components are installed by hand and there can be what amounts to large variances between any 2 machines coming off of the line
what chris has pointed out is something that should be taken to heart by anyone wanting to perform their own playfield swap which is to take the time tio measure twice, drill once so to speak. you can easily transfer the assemblies, but unless you're willing to take the time and ensure that everything is positioned correctly, your newly assembled game may not play as well as you'd expect it to

It is very time consuming but super important mechanics are positioned correctly. Many things depend on proper alignment from Plastics mounting to correct ball play from eject holes and such.

Obviously it attaches to the head of the crib

After the stencils, clearcoat, and apron.
That child will be turned on to pinball at an early stage.

Will it get a 40% matte / 60% glossy mix of clear over it?

Anyone who has never done paint work can not even begin to imagine just how good you are or how much skill & work something like this takes. When I was younger I did street rods, muscle cars, and classic cars so I know how hard getting one strip can be. Doing all of them on something like an apron is INSANE. You did a FABULOUS JOB Chris!

Thanks Skip.
Aprons are one of my least favorite parts to deal with.
It’s nice when they are on good shape already or you can get a new one or well made decal set.
Had none of those options on this one unfortunately so it takes whatever it takes to get it up to par with the rest of the game.

Chris,
You work never ceases to amaze me. As I have told you both here on Pinside and when we have talked in person you are doing one hell of a nice job on these machines for people and the only thing that impresses me more than your work is your organization. Keep up the great work & the great post. I'll likely try to stop by and see you again next time we are headed South.

A couple final details on Spirit 3
This game came in with no motor or disc
The new motor was supplied but a hub was needed
Using the hub set up I had used previously on the Black hole motor conversion that was solved. FACFBE85-FB1F-459B-A02B-2EBB202B4016 (resized).jpegE263F6BE-0874-4951-B0C9-616A57C778B8 (resized).jpeg
Next up was the backglass.
Game came in without one of those but an NOS was supplied.
That is great but no glass means no channels and on these Gottliebs that is a problem.
I was able to get the sides and top from Pinball Resource.
The lift channel is the issue.
I found that the 1/8 Bally channel will fit but must be shortened.
Channel was shortened and now the glass is built up and placed. 76365122-72C9-444E-8D7B-53F21CBE28C0 (resized).jpeg
All other parts are placed and the game is all done less some minor detailing

How long before mini-cornhole ends up on ESPN? I thought cornhole tournament broadcasts were a joke, but ESPN does them now.

Mini cornhole is much harder than full size I have discovered
that's funny , the trick to mini game might be getting being good at catching errant bags before having to pick up yet another one off the floor again
Spirit 3 done.
