Capcom, 1995Ok so next up for public consumption will be this Pinball Magic
I have not done a Capcom game in several years .
The owner likes to get outside of the standard trim packages normally so I am sure we will coordinate on something that is nice and suits the game without being loud or obnoxious.
For today I am just going to set the stage and get it up on legs.

It really depends. Some people ask for stock looks and others something different.
A good example of that is Centaur.
I do them stock,I do them in silver cabinets, I do them with chrome, I do them with silver powder coat so you could look at that one game and get 5 or 6 different impressions or opinions.
Ultimately I am filling orders to please the owner.
In terms of actual build quality I would have to say custom.

Luckily I don’t have anything of that magnitude to address.
I will need to figure out if I want to just address the damage or repaint all the purple and clear.
If I go that route I may do something custom like a purple that flips colors in different light to tie in with the theme.
Playfield looks great but it is full Mylar.
The game is a bit of a time capsule because it has been here folded up for 12 years.
That is because It has had two or three different owners during that time and the current owner has many other projects brewing here and was in no hurry
Once I unearthed it during last years move I knew I wanted to get it going soon.
Inside is decent. I like the way the playfield hinges and lifts.
The cabinet construction is reminiscent of the Data East builds with some changes or improvements like a solid panel for the transformer.
Some mild corrosion and spiderwebs from years of sitting.
The entire pf will come out of the box, with the nylon wheels resting on the stainless steel strip at the backbox. so well designed. so much easier to work on.

Have you ever been able to remove that kind of corrosion/oxidation or does that always require replating with nickel?

If you don't having to deal with parts in the back is much worse than a B/W
What are your plans for the pf? Mine had the full mylar as well, heard it doesn't come up too well on these..
Looks to be a very nice example overall, and a breeze for someone like you! I'm not familiar with Capcom games and appreciate that the backbox speakers are in their own sealed enclosures. Too bad they aren't still in the business as I would imagine they would put out some great games today.

Mine only had it on the pop bumper area and freezing it was easy; came right up. Pretty much standard 90s Clear Coat I would *think* it's the same?
Yeah, I thought the same. I wanted to remove mine, but got scared off. Not standard 90's clear, as I sure can appreciate.
Interested here, as replacements not so available. I'm sure all are different, but be careful.

In all the times playing PM never knew the entire door was a printed circuit board for the gi and flashers.
I have not forgotten about or abandoned this thread just need to create a little breathing room before I can focus on it.
Even though I work solo I always have several projects brewing at a time at various stages.

Starting with the topside I will remove as much as I can.
The coils present topside will be placed on color correct plugs for ease of reassembly later. I do not want to have to solder topside once the restoration is coming back together.

Pretty populated game in terms of plastic stacks and things like that. Seems to be a bit more order of assembly oriented than many games meaning it requires a bit of study at times to figure out the best way to remove certain parts and features.
The curtain assembly and floating ball thing were the more troublesome to remove since they utilize lots of plastic in the mechs.
