Wish I would have documented the process but I had already done Medusa a couple years ago so here is just the finished pictures on this one.
It is similar to the one previously documented but with some changes.

I want a Medusa, but I think the price just went up on all of them.

#15 6 years ago

That's a work of art. It's a frigging factory fresh Medusa . Amazing !

Have you ever done colors like gold or silver using a metallic paint? The quality of a spray can paint might look a bit tacky, but some of the higher end stuff might make cabinets really pop. I've often wondered what a Centaur might look like with some mirrored paint in certain areas, but my painting skills, quite frankly, suck .

Also, I think your work of art is the first time I've ever seen painted Bally coin doors of the era that fit the game perfectly. I'm a big fan of your various builds and restorations, but this one takes the cake!

#16 6 years ago

Absolutely stunning!

#17 6 years ago

Does the second(or third or fourth) example go faster or do you go further with the effort than the previous one so it takes about the same effort to get through?

Amazing!

#18 6 years ago

Awesome!

#19 6 years ago

What, no gold trim to cover the plywood framed coin box surrounds? Ha ha just kidding, AMAZING redo, well done, sir.

Amazing!

It gets a little bit easier with repetition but you are right that the time saved with familiarity gets put back into the project somewhere else.
With this era game I spend so much time soldering it seems. The act of changing all the lamp sockets ,wiring and putting large assemblies on plugs is like torture after putting so much time already into the cosmetics but it has to be done.

Chris, spectacular! Love seeing your work. Especially on these era games. Still love the HEP Harlem Globetrotters that you did for me!!

yeah makes me want to put my Medusa out to the curb

Chris, was that backglass the Outer Edge reproduction or the CPR reproduction?

#28 6 years ago
Quoted from xeneize:

Chris, was that backglass the Outer Edge reproduction or the CPR reproduction?

Just a guess...CPR as it looks to be dark in color which is common with the CPR glasses as the colors are over saturated. Now I'll wait for Chris to respond and if I am wrong I will edit my post

#29 6 years ago

Prettiest Medusa I've ever seen - I love how well you matched the powder to the cab paint.

Yes that is a CPR but the game came in with no glass at all and the new CPR still in the box so I don’t have anything to compare it to but it looks nice in general.

Thanks. That is actually all paint work not powder.

Wow. Was this a commissioned piece? Medusa was the first pin a purchased, this makes me miss the hell out of it.

#33 6 years ago

Chris, Is that a brand new cabinet or the original? It looks absolutely stunning!

#34 6 years ago

Yes it was.
They all are honestly. I don’t buy and sell or collect.

New cabinets. 9 out of 10 times here. Almost always for that era especially.
