Ok - I’m refurbing a GamePlan Sharpshooter and having some moderate success. Thanks to Slgerber, I replaced my broken drop targets (used Data East white ones and spray painted) ... they are working great. (See pics below)

Next problem to tackle is the general illumination. It was working one moment and then off the next. I checked all the fuses and they are good.

I am a beginner at reading schematics, so any physical directions would be helpful.
So - where should I start in my trouble shooting?

Where is the transformer that powers these lights?

Please note, everything else in machine is working fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks -

Have you replaced the connectors? Gameplan connectors between head and cabinet almost always need to be replaced because of corrosion.

Are the general illumination lights out on the backbox panel and on the playfield? The circuit looks super simple. 6.3 volts AC comes directly off the transformer via a green and white wire. It goes directly to a 20 amp fuse. The schematic that I looked at doesn't identify the fuse number. Then the circuit branches off to both J14 and J15 on the power supply board. J14 is for the backbox. Pins 1, 2, and 3 (blue & white wires) are the 6.3 volts AC and pins 7, 8 and 9 (brown wires) are the GI returns. J15 is for the playfield. Pins 2, 3, and 4 (blue & white wires) are the 6.3 volts AC and pins 6, 7, and 8 (brown wires) are the GI returns.

Thanks for the replies - turns out it was a fuse! I swear they all tested well, but I replaced the one marker for GI and they came on. Chalk it up to human error.
