I have a Bally Knockout which is boxing themed so I thought it would be cool to add a bell to the machine that would ring like a boxing bell when the game starts or maybe at each ball. I bought an old alarm bell and I'm trying to figure out how to wire it into the game. I thought about wiring it to either the credit/start button or maybe the ball count unit. I have verified the bell works on a 9 Volt battery. My only choices on the machine are 6 volts or 50 volts so I'm hoping 6 volts will work. Can someone take a look at the bell wiring and the schematic and give me some advice on how(or even if) I can achieve this? I can provide better closeups of schematic if needed.

I'd power it externally, either with a battery, or an adapter which can be plugged into the game's convenience outlet. Then simply rig a switch that rides on the ball kickout plunger which closes momentarily when each ball is kicked out into the shooter lane.

Interesting suggestions. Never even considered that direction. Do you think a leaf switch would work?

An alternative to a outhole kicker switch is to tap off of the outhole kicker solenoid W-Y wire located on a normally open switch on the outhole relay. The power taken from this tap will power a ice cube relay with a 48vac coil. The isolated switches on the relay will be used to complete the circuit for the bell. Doing this allows easy access to the mechanical board and simplified wiring and mounting.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up going with an external power supply from Amazon hooked up to a leaf switch triggered by the ball kick out arm. It works perfectly! Exactly as I imagined. The bell rings to start the "round" every time a ball kicks out.

Perfect! But... isn't there a convenience outlet inside the game where you can plug in your power supply?

Nope. Unfortunately there is not. This game doesn't have one. Would have been a bit easier if it did. Lol
