I just got a Data East Back to the Future given to me for FREE!! The MPU was badly battery damaged so I just replaced that with a new Rottendog board. The game now boots and plays. Everything is working except the Alpha Numeric Display. It is totally dead. I have checked the voltages going to the board and we do have the 5V 100V and -100V present. The board is part #520-5030-00.
One thing I have noticed is that the glass is cracked on both displays. Here is a pic:
Would these cracks totally kill the display? Any thing else I can check? It can't be a problem with the MPU as that is brand new. And it shouldn't be a power problem as that checks out.
I hate to have to go and but a new replacement Pinscore display for $250 especially since I just spent over $300 for the new Rottendog MPU. But if need be I will. Any suggestions for where I could get e replacement for a better price?
It's a good thing I got the machine for free. If I need to get a new display along with the new MPU along with new rubbers, LEDs, and a few other miscellaneous parts it will be setting me back about $700. Still not too bad though.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
