    Quoted from Blackbeard:

    Ok thanks.
So the back two wires (of original) to the back (non banded) lug of replacement. And the third solo wire to the front lug of replacement without a diode attached to it.
I wonder why the placement of the diode is different on the replacement

It really isn't. The switch doesn't know which blade the diode is soldered to, so as long as you put the wires as Lloyd has instructed, it will be just fine.

    Quoted from Blackbeard:

It's just odd that the original switch has the wires going to the front and back lugs... but the new switch the wires need to run to the back and middle lugs?
Sure this is correct? Lloyd's green arrow is pointing to the MIDDLE lug of the new switch.

All that matters is the direction of the diode, and that the diode goes to one blade and the wire to the other. The directionality of the diode is correct in both switches. The electrons that go through it don't know if they are going to the middle blade or the outer blade. Simple physics.
