I've been having trouble with Slimer ever since I set up my machine. He will play normally for a day or two and then in the middle of a game he will freeze in place.

When I go to diagnostics, it seems like it gets confused on where he is supposed to be. For instance, he is in the image below, but the diagnostics says he should be in position 0. The motor is making a constant low him like its trying to move but nothing is happening.

I noticed the opto board is screwed in with four screws, two with washers and two without and keeps the board at a slight angle. Is this normal? I was wondering if it was missing two washers and the optos weren't lining up correctly?

Any suggestions are welcome!! Thanks!

And position 0 is supposed to be in the city, right?

Ok, thanks. If anyone is under the playfield, can you verify the two washer, no washer thing like in my pic above? I've sent a query to Stern, but I want to try and get this working, having people over tomorrow!

Thanks for the input. Do you have two nylon spacers with washers and two without, so your opto board sits at a slight angle?

I messed around with the mechanism for a bit this morning. It seems to get hung up easily on things above the playfield, and not power through to the position it's supposed to be in. But everything is tightened up nicely, the belt seems firmly in place.

As I said before, I'm having some people over today, so I decided to disable the Slimer motor in the adjustments menu. I turned it off, but then Slimer still engages during a game, when he is supposed to. I also have the shaker turned off in the menu, but that still goes off all the time during games.

Could my problem be some weird software issue? Would it help if I re-installed the software?

Thanks again for any input anyone can muster.

Ok, good to know about the shaker, I wonder if the disable Slimer motor doesn't work either? Yeah, I think my washer thing is a dead end. There's something more going on with the motor.

Great! Thanks for the input! So, maybe something with the opto board.
