Maverick is now eating real food and getting bigger every day.
Levi, my apologies about the Barack comment. I was just screwing with you but it probably came off as rude. I don’t mean it to be. Sorry.

So squirrels don't eventually bite you? Reason I ask is when I was a kid, a schoolmate had raised a squirrel and when it become an adult, the wild animal kicked in and started biting.

Yes a lot of squirrels will one day "go wild" And you have to release them. But that doesn't seem to hardly ever happen with flying squirrels.
I had a sugar glider for years, very friendly. She has never bitten anyone. She would fly around the room. The only down side is they pee where.

Thanks, always wondered about that. Ditto regarding a pet rat or rabbit. Heck, even our cat goes semi-ballistic if I get him too wound up!
I found a half drowned red squirrel in a hurricane once so I took it home and cared for it for a couple days. Once it was back to health it bit me so I told it that if it was going to bite it was going outside. I put it out the front door and it went to every window wanting back in. Once it got to the back door I felt bad and let it in. He stayed voluntarily and was a great little friend till the day he died.
Quoted from Blackbeard:World needs more people like the op.
Good man.
No, I'm an asshole. Just ask some people here. I just love animals and children. They are innocent and deserve to be loved and cared for.

Same here. Generally hate people. Love animals.

You can't be too bad you have a ZR1

I HAD a 1990 ZR1. Those cars were total pieces of shit. I sold it for half of what I bought it for. Hey now own a C5 FRC pushing about 650 hp
He would never make it outside. He loves people and running around on them. He gets grapes and strawberries every day along with dried fruit. I actually spent $200 on a cage so he can climb and jump around.
He has grown nicely!
The bond you have now is locked, and should be an amazing pet!
A lot of effort went into saving him!
Quoted from TM462:I would not mind regular updates to see how that little guy is doing!
Indeed! I look forward to checking in on this thread. It's not pinball related, but it's a nice positive thread that gives me a brief but much needed break from constant pinball discussion. Nice work saving the little fella.
Such a cute little rodent. My older brother and I had a pet desert kangaroo rat that we found while rattlesnake hunting. It was hopping around and came right to us. He kept it until it passed away. It was so friendly.
Squirrels don't really act like most rodents. They are more like cats. They can be left out of their cages and wont just disappear. As far as a flying squirrel, I will find out.

Ditto^^^
Quoted from zr11990:HEre is the lates pic of Maverick. I won’t post any more unless someone asks. He got really big and fat really fast.

He may be fat but he's cute!
Another vote for weekly or at least occasional updates. I would love to see some pictures of him flying someday but I imagine a shot like that would be hard to capture.

I'd love to see updates too!
Very nice of you to take such care of this little fella. I have 2 Ferrets that just showed up in my yard a year apart, don't know where they came from but still own them.
Ill get some pics of him. He has gotten cute and fat. I am going to figure out how to let go be a squirrel though. He doesn't like to come out of his hidey hole and I think its sad to keep him in a cage all the time. I try to play with him as much as possible but he pees all over me when I get him out and since he is nocturnal he doesn't want to come out to play during the day. Im going to put his cage outside and leave it open with food and water so he can come and go as he pleases.

17 days since last update, how is the little fella?

Yea waiting for some pics.
I tried playing with her last night but she has really gotten wild. I don't know if she wants to hibernate because its winter time of she just doesn't want to be messed with but If I get her out she jumps back into the cage. She does love to take sunflower seeds out of my hand but really doesn't seem to want to be held. She will climb all over me and sometimes let me pet her but Im thinking she would rather be outside. Im considering putting her cage outside and leaving the door open at night and letting her become a wild squirrel. Another thing is when I get her out she climbs on my shoulder and pees on me and as you know rodent pee stinks. Any suggestions?

She’s a squirrel man.
Let her be a squirrel.
This is not a domestic pet. You did a mitzvah in helping it out when it needed the help but time to let go.
