Do not attempt to remove the mylar on a pinbot, imo. Pinbot and F-14 both seemed to use very agressive glue, and almost always, unless very experienced, you'll make it worse trying to remove it. If it's bubbling there are techniques to prick the bubbles and re glue.
Are your legs chrome or painted black? If chrome don't use a wire wheel....use the aluminum foil or evaporate method:

Try the foil method...you might be surprised. Problem with wire wheel, is it's going to take the chrome off with the rust.
