Quoted from visi0n:I've spent countless hours pouring over youtube and reviews of Williams' Indiana Jones and Stern Indiana Jones. I keep looking for one for sale online near me.
I'm getting the general consensus that the Williams seems to be considered the primo machine.
Problem is, I've never played it and I haven't found one within 300 miles of me to play. I'm on the Gulf Coast.
I have found a Stern Indiana Jones to play. I loved it! The arc multi ball was a fun gimmick. The sound was fantastic, the newer DMD looked awesome. The gameplay was fun.
But, the blind man doesn't know colors he's never seen. At one point in my life, I thought Killians was a high end beer. You don't know what you are missing until you do...
My observations from the youtube videos is the sound seems to sound crummy on the Williams, but maybe that's just bad youtube'age I like the .38 pistol ball launcher. That's fun. I guess I'm not an experienced enough pinball master to look at the playfield of the williams machine via a youtube video and say, "Yeah, that's a great design"
I can come up with $6000 or so to get the machine to my door.
Heck, I might even be able to convince the operator of this Stern machine near me, to sell this machine to me. If not, I see myself buying one within the next 30 days. I found a store with a Stern Indy for $5900 in primo condition and a Williams Indy for $6900 in good condition.
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on the stern, because it's what I know...
I'd classify myself as a Indiana Jones / Star Wars fanatic with a love of pinball, not the other way around, if that helps. I've played 200 games on my Data East Star Wars this month alone. I just don't get tired of it because of the Star Wars ness...
Will the Stern Indy be the same, ya think?
I think $5900 is at least $2000 too much for Stern Indy. One was just on my local CL last week for $3500, and may still be there (SF Bay Area). Even at that price I did not contact the seller because the WMS version is definitely the Indy to get. With some patience you should be able to get a clean one in the $5-$6k range.
