I just got my first pin, a 1965 eager beaver. Work well and am currently tuning it up making sure everything works. There is a bell on s continuous stepper unit (label peeled off unit, not sure what it does) and what looks like a clapper arm that looks like it hits the bell at every advance. Only issue is it does not reach the bell. I tried adjusting the bell as close as possible but no luck. On the Internet pin database I found a photo of the light box where this stepper lives and noticed the clapper arm has some additional ring on it which might be why mine does not reach. Could it be o-ring or rubber portion? Plastic ring? I am new to pins so have no idea. I attached the stock photo of the pin. The piece in question is the small lever above the bell on the left. Mine is just a small metal ring whereas the photo looks to have some white, larger diameter object attached to the arm.

The old WMS parts catalogs are online. See pages 12 & 14.

Your game was one of the last pinballs before they switched to the newer style (pg. 20).

Here's an IPDB pic for 1964 ZigZag:

Pinball Resource shows some parts for the newer style bell/clapper. He also has many parts not listed, so I'd give him a call.

One "repair":

Some discussion/pics (old & new style) here. Looks like the missing part fits on there loosely?:

That bell looks too far from the step assy.
maybe wrong bell? too small?

you could redrill the hole in the mount arm to bring bell closer to clapper?

Looks OK to me. The bell is connected to the arm with a slotted hole. Looks like time and gravity has 're positioned' the bell.

So it defiantly looks like there is a loose metal ring that was attached. Since it fell off, it was most likely lead or some other soft metal. This makes sense as a loose piece of metal hitting a bell will make more of a ring sound than a fixed bonk.

Now I just need to find a suitable replacement, maybe a washer or something.

it was metal... thick washer type, with floppy hole for wobble. something like a fender washer maybe to replace it if you can attach it

I asked PBR before and they didn't have that part. I ended up using a fender washer, still doesn't ring 100% reliably, maybe I need a bit bigger of a washer.
