Searched for part number A-12176 but could not find.
The part number gives you a clue to what game it is. Gottlieb assigned part numbers in chronological order and the parts catalogs list the parts in chronological order in the back. A-12176 first appeared in the 1970 parts catalog which implies that the plastic was used in a game in '69 or '70. I pulled up photos of Skipper and others but clearly I don't have the attention to detail that runbikeskilee does. Nice find.
Gottlieb "Skipper". First Gottlieb with a chime unit. You almost never see this game. I've never played one.
LOL. I only have Gottlieb catalogs for 1968 and 1978 and the shield number was not listed in either of those. That left the period of 1969-1973. I started with an advanced search on ipdb, beginning 1969. Stumbled upon it much sooner than later.
I've never played Skipper either. Never even seen one in freeplay at the PA-based shows.
