I’ve done somee searching and haven’t seen anyone with this issue, but hopefully someone can help me out here.

I’m working on a Gorgar and the magnet is behaving strangely. Sometimes the magnet activates for a brief moment and releases the ball. Sometimes it holds it a little longer
until the flashers stop, sometimes it stays on indefinitely and even after powering off it will activate again when the machine is turned back on. These can and do happen during the same game so it doesn’t seem like a pinched wire. Other than offer it has locked on, it only appears to active when the target is hit as it should.

I have done the service bulletin ground mod and I replaced the transistor that controls the relay. The gaps on the target switch and relay switches are ok. I don’t see any obvious shorts going on. Anyone have any ideas where to go next?

Quoted from Xenon75:

Is the ground wire attached in the backbox to the ground strap that runs through the game?

Yes it is

Bump. Any ideas?

Quoted from Tuukka:

Maybe the relay is sticking because of residual magnetism. Try putting some tape between relay armature and coil.

This appears to have been the issue! The coil armature was definitely sticking and the coil wasn’t activated. I put a bit of electric tape in there and so far it’s working fine. Thanks!
