I have a bally space invaders, with a rough touch up and some faded inserts. There is also a cracked yellowing over most of the playfeild.
I have insert decals but am not sure if I should just stick them on the inserts that are on the play feild already or order all new inserts. If I get new inserts should clear them before glueing into playfeild? Also can I clean the whole thing with VM&P Naphtha? Will it clean off the yellowing?

Any touch up you do on the playfield as it is , including sticking insert decals , will be destroyed by the rolling ball , unless you intend to use something to cover the playfield after the touch ups , like spraying with a clear coat.

Naphtha is very good in removing , oils and waxes but it will do nothing for the yellowing. Visiting the link that Atari_Daze gave you in his post is a must before doing anything with the playfield.

The yellowing is going to be the hardest part of the project.

You may just want to order a brand new playfield:

What would be the correct process if I wanted to attempt to remove the yellowing? Or could I just clear over it or would it not come out well? Thanks guys.

You can clear over the yellow and it will look fine.

If you want to try & remove it the old topcoat, you use 95% Iso alcohol and Magic Eraser.

This is crazy dangerous, because a few swipes too many and you will remove the paint too.

Experiment in areas hidden under the plastics at the top, until you get your sea legs.

It takes about 10 hours per playfield.

Is this insert cracked? Should I replace? If so should I replace them all so they look the same?
