I’m sure I’m doing something silly but this is driving me NUTS.

Installed Speaker Light Kit on my Black Knight SoR the other night.

Tonight I’m trying to install my Flipper Fidelity speakers. I ordered the “I have Speaker lights” kit option. I can confirm I got the black speakers (vs red for the standard no lights kit) and they don’t have much of a spacer at all.

However, I can’t get the darn thing to fit. It’s not really even close. The right speaker smacks the power module in the backbox.

I can’t skip using the meta threaded hex shaped risers that came with the FF kit since the tweeter sticks out and mashed into the speaker plate, if I didn’t use them.

Can someone look at the pics and see if I’m doing something wrong here?

    Thanks.

    Quoted from Yelobird:

I believe he specifies in the instructions which specific speakers to buy. Doesn't look like the correct ones Or I believe you have to remove the cross bar frame from the Stern speaker plate and loose the stand offs.

I ordered Flipper fidelity’s option that is made for speaker light kits.

    EDIT:

Although I ordered the “correct” speakers, I went back and re-read SpeakerLightKits instructions...Son of a.... STILL have to cut that metal grate out. Ugh.

“Aftermarket speakers can be used with the SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kits, but if they have spacer rings attached to the front of them to protect their extended tweeters when mounted, these spacer rings will need to be removed from the front of the speakers. If aftermarket speakers are ordered directly from Flipper Fidelity, there should be an option to order the speakers without the spacer rings attached (for light kit use). These spacer rings need to be removed as there is not enough space for them to fit along with the SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit frame on the right side. If you do need to remove the spacer rings, see my MANUALS section for tips on how to remove them (Aftermarket speakers in SPIKE system games).

Along with making sure your speakers do not have the attached spacer rings on the front of them, ***** you may also have to cut off the bars that run inside the speaker holes of the factory speaker plates. This will need to be done for any replacement speakers you are using that have tweeters that extend beyond the speaker's mounting points. The bars need to be removed so the speakers can mount flush on the speaker plates and the holes need to be open so the extended tweeters can go through the speaker plate's holes. ***** You may also choose to buy a set of replacement speaker plates for SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit use (sold separately). These replacement speaker plates will already have the bars removed from the speaker holes. The speakers will then be mounted to the replacement plates and the original factory speaker plates won't need to be modified or used at all.”

Yep. Thanks. I have tin snips that did the job quickly.

Oddly, while doing the speaker lights kit, my hinge to the speaker box somehow got out of sorts and it now takes some force to get the latch closed. I don’t really see how the hinge can adjust at all though.

Tin snips made quick work of the speaker cross bars.

Doug, I’ve had another problem since Saturday that I can’t solve.

The speaker plates mounted on top of the light frames now hit the nut holding the hinge! It won’t let the speaker back box close and latch smoothly at all. What am I missing here?

    Thanks

Got it all fit up. Thanks Doug and all. Just have to barely give the back speaker box a little pressure to shut the latch now. Not bad.
