Hi -

I'm about to inherit a Heat Wave and can't seem to find schematics. It's going to need a decent amount of TLC. I'm looking to try and find the part numbers for the lockdown bars and coin doors. Hoping PB Resource may have these as I don't see many parts pre 1967 readily available online.

Anyone know the part numbers to the lockdown bar / lockdown bar end cap / coin door?

#152 2 years ago

The lockdown bar looks to be D-6061

The right cap is 21B-6597
The left cap is 21B-6596

Pretty sure Pinball Resource does not have the lockbar. Think I have one but it is missing a cap.

They should have the schematic though

Have a heatwave for sale only 31,518 plays and fully shopped if anyone is interested

You disparage Heat Wave in your ad, but they made (i.e. sold) more Heat Waves in its day than Centigrade '37. Also, Heat Wave ranks higher here on Pinside.

Also— swinging targets.

The only similarity between the two games is that Gottlieb ripped off the thermometer idea.

I have PM'ed you asking for more pics and have gotten no response.

#158 2 years ago

Mine is worn in the same place by the right side of the 100 pts light. Interesting that would be a common wear area.

#159 2 years ago

Yeah its a common place to have ball wear i have another friend that has one in same place. I would keep the game if i had the room & was not needing the room&money for a big hit

#160 2 years ago

What is that shiny spot in your pic at the lower left rollover button?

Get one from Shay — http://shayarcadegroup.com/dev/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Heat-Wave.jpg

Looks like someone started to repaint the cabinet and gave up!

Lock bar caps can be sanded and chromed -- mine were at least as bad as yours:

Brought home a Heat Wave this week; my first pin! Playfield is excellent (not cleaned yet) but backglass is heavily flaked (see below). Could quick questions,

1/ anyone find a translite backglass? I know Shay sells reprise also I reached out to bgresto for a restoration with their technique

2/ planning to triple thick it tomorrow as the flaking is getting worse and fast. See below, huge parts missing. Is the idea to preserve what I have even if this damaged? I don’t plan to touch up.

Thrilled to be part of the HW club!!!

Hey all - cleaning playfield on HW. I’ve heard of diff products depending on whether the machine has a clear coat or wax. I’m curious what you all have don’t for your HWs.

Mine is in great condition but needs a good clean. There is planking for sure (photo below). After research, landed on Naphtha for initial cleaning with a micro fiber and only use MC magic eraser as needed. Then Meguiar's Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax.

Welcome any thoughts!

Only use magic eraser and alcohol if you're going to clear coat it. ME will take off whatever is left of the laquer protecting the paint. Better to leave some imperfection or dirt than to expose paint to a rolling metal ball.

With the condition that looks to be in I'd definitely go the restore and clear route.

#177 11 months ago

I’m concerned that I may not have a clear coat on it already and I’ll harm the paint. How can I check, run my fingers in it?

#178 11 months ago

I cleaned mine with naptha and waxed with Mothers' pure caranuaba in the can. Take before and after pics because after cleaning it may still look dirty, but the pics will show how much better it is. Keep checking your rag for paint.

I’d rather still have it a little dirty than take off the paint. But you'll be surprised how much better it looks.

Vacuum first. Then clean & wax.

My bg has some flaking but it isn’t bad and I haven’t triple thicked it.

Nice. Looks like someone did a restore on it -- repainted cabinet? Webbing doesn't look like the original which was very fine like on the apron.

#182 85 days ago

We do need artwork for the swinging target so it can be fixed up. Mine is not too bad, yours is pretty trashed. But I haven't seen a pristine one!

#183 85 days ago

Hello All - I happen to own 2 Heat Waves - one of them is what I call the "standard" remove the lockdown bar and slide out the PF glass however the other one the entire PF glass lifts up like a hood on a car for a lack of better descrption... did someone switch cabs, was this an option??

#184 45 days ago

PowderNoid My Twin Win opens that way, but it's a Bally.

#185 45 days ago

My swinging targets don't always ring the large bell when hit.

The L relay and R relay switches to the large bell (orange wire) are set closer than the other switches, so they should be ringing the bell even before the other functions of the relay happen. I've also cleaned the bell switch on the 100 pt relay. The pressure on it seems right.

Its got to be one of those three relays, right? Any ideas?
