I got a repining kit for the lamp driver board on my paragon but it didn't include the male header pins just the female connecters and the crimp terminals. So my question is can i cut down a 40 pin male to a different size like 28? It would be cheaper to buy the 40 pins and cut them to the sizes i need.
Also is there any difference between the brown female connecters and the white ones, can they be interchanged?

Yes the brown and white can be interchanged and unless your old female connector is burned, it can simply be reused. Press a small screwdriver into the side to depress the holding pin and pull it out,

I agree. I always buy the longs and cut to what I need. You can even use two short pieces to make up a long one in a pinch.
