It feels like manufacturers are trying to figure out how to best utilize the HD displays on newer pinball machines. Any opinions on how we'll see these utilized a few years down the road?

If there is another thread about this, please shoot me a link. Thanks!

I doubt it'll happen anytime soon, but Sharp has a technology they call "free form" displays where the display can be cut into any shape wanted--normally, displays have to be rectangular. Pinball manufacturers could use that to their advantage to have custom shaped displays in the playfield, or wherever, instead of just having a secondary display to show extra stuff sitting off the playfield somewhere. Expensive, yes. Cool? Very yes. I imagine it could be incorporated into the artwork more fluidly than a rectangle could.

Also, I think a natural evolution of touch screen display technology in pinball would be to use it on the lockdown bar--not unlike the new touchbar on macbook pros. It could be an inventive way to deepen the rules of a pinball machine and add strategy.
