Anyone else getting ads for Hawaiian Shirts that have playfields on them?
The manufacturers are mission out on a new product segment.
Obviously these have major copyright violations.

i totally have that ad popping up on my feed lately.

i feel like these have spfxted written all over them!

    #3 2 years ago

Looks like the domain was registered on 4/28/21 with a registrar in China. Personally, I wouldn't trust that site. Seems like it may be a fly-by-night operation.

    #4 2 years ago

I can't imagine that stuff being legally licensed.

    #5 2 years ago

    I need the TWD shirt.

Since it looks like it's being operated in China, probably not. I'm guessing they will continue to operate for some time. It's notoriously difficult to take down Chinese operators for IP theft or copyright violations. Even if they do get taken down, they can just easily move to a new domain name and company name and start all over again.

Ha, yep, I just saw an AFM Hawaiian shirt on my Facebook feed yesterday. It's scary how good targeted their ads are, even through all my ad blockers and other precautions. Like ForceFlow said though, this ad, as well as so many Facebook ads, seem seriously sketchy. Like about a year ago I saw a Facebook ad for one of those modern Atari tabletop 3D pong machines for $100 instead of its usual $1500 or whatever. Too good to be true of course, but I used a Visa gift card to see if it was real, and of course it wasn't. Wasn't charged, at least.

Congrats to Stern. Joining the big boys now having to deal with pirated apparel and intellectual property.

Hopefully they'll make the same style shirt for legit sale, those look pretty cool.

The best part is that the "Retro" shirt is the Wheel of Fortune playfield!

    That's so funny!

    #11 2 years ago

Sweet. I just sold my DPLE, now I can replace it with a shirt. They accept PayPal so I'll roll the dice.

I have some bad news. It is a Pro playfield shown so you are going to be missing all those Prem/LE toys, but you'll still have this incredibly loud shirt!

I would kill for these shirts, but I think it’s a scam. It looks like it was photoshopped and too perfect. The entire shirt looks like they photoshopped a playfield into the shape of a shirt. Look at the bottom and the shooter lane. The neck area on the inside of the shirt and collar matches the button up area too perfectly.

Yes, this is common for doing t-shirt mock-ups with any print shop.

    #15 2 years ago

It’s too bad. Get me a legit, licensed, shirt and nerds like me will be throwing money at them.

Definitely a computer generated mock-up, but fabric printing tech these days is incredible. Assuming it's legit and they use state of the art printers, the final result would look very close to those mock-ups.

Agree that Stern should legitimately look at making these - easy to get a 3rd party to print them.

    #17 2 years ago

Amazing that Stern hasn’t done this officially. I’d buy a ton of these if they were well done, that TWD one looks sharp!

    #18 2 years ago

Tried buying on that site but it's very clunky. I couldn't actually get to the checkout?

Figured I would use PayPal and if nothing shows up I can do a chargeback so nothing lost to try.

    #19 2 years ago

Stern should make some of these and then have some of their dead serious looking non-smiling models wear them for the publicity photos.

    #20 2 years ago

I have seen the TWD shirt IRL. Not sure where the person got it, but they do exist.

Good luck. I don't think Disney wants Stern making tacky Deadpool shirts. Only license they'd get would be Williams for BKSOR. Perfect circle of lightning inserts to accentuate the middle-aged belly.

A different site has an Attack from Mars shirt.
I might have decided to roll the dice and see what comes.

Nice bootleg novelties but I can only imagine how bad your average pinhead is going to smell after a couple hours baking like a meat loaf under one of these polyester tents.

    Especially at a pinball show!

A large sweatstain with back hair visibly poking through.

An ad for these popped into my FB feed today. You'd think FB does some vetting of the co right?

LMAO! I'm sure they got the got them working in shifts to make sure everything is on the up and up with rando chinese bootleg t shirt guys.

FB vets the payment and if it works it goes up. Not their responsibility.

Second one looks like a semi populated playfield.
    Missing the following:

    Apron
    Pop bumper caps
Scoop piece for the kick out hole.
    Drop target assembly.

Actually, someone should do LED mod for these shirts like people do for light up ugly Christmas sweaters.

Over/Under 5 of these at Pinfest this year?

    I'm thinking over.

I did buy one 5 days ago. It still hasn't shipped.
I will update when it arrives.
The worst part is usually the sizing. It might say one thing, but we'll see how "true to size" it ends up.

    #40 2 years ago

I also seen this one, which is probably the one I would get.

Its hard to come up with something shittier than an actual hawaiian shirt so congrats on that accomplishment.

    #42 2 years ago

Yeah, I didn't think anything could top the full playfields but that collage is even uglier. Proved me wrong.

Shirt of pic of bottom of PF? Or just make a striped shirt with wire bundles crossing over each other.

Paperflock is selling these but you get a tank top instead.
