One thing I don't think I saw covered is LCD/Colour displays help draw people in on location. They are also good when people are watching someone play, it helps attract people and gives them more to watch.

From an operating standpoint I am all for them. I was unsure about a hobbit but am getting one now specifically because I know it will attract people. I put a WOZ out with some other games and play on my older games stayed steady (they have not taken a hit despite adding in WOZ) while WOZ is doing very well. More people are playing now since I put WOZ in. Same location we have had games in for a couple years but it acts like a flame to moths.

So for locations I am a big fan of LCD displays. At home it is not a big deal to me though.

Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:

Pinball is not making a comeback due to LCDs, it is making a comeback due to introduction to new generational audiences, changes in venue, and current economical status as the proposition of home entertainment sales.
Operators know this as well, and are capitalizing on the conditions.
Good for pinball.

The market is ripe right now for pinball but the key is bringing the customers in in. This means getting games out on location, drawing people in (LCD and lots of lights helps!), and getting them to come back by giving them a good experience.

You only need so much LCD though. I have a second location interested and my plan is to keep one LCD machine in each along with a couple more conventional DMD's. You are right, once they drop a coin in they will try other things. Before they will drop a coin in though they need to walk over there and LCDs really help with that.

Quoted from marcos:

Nope. Not around here, at least.
If I had to rely on "pinball people," my route and pinball arcade would have failed long ago.
90% of my customers are "non-pinball people."
And I'm nowhere near New York, or the Pacific Northwest.
