Very cool you are acknowledging O-din, but GoFundMe charges administration expenses (6%?) so may be better to just thank him here.

This looks like the unfortunate convergence of 2 economies, a Keynesian one and an emotional one.

Emotional transactions can be sullied by cash- imagine the awkwardness of trying to pay a girlfriend's mother for a Thanksgiving feast. Or if Lady Slingshot went on a date with a supermodel, went back to her penthouse apartment, made wild monkey love all night then left $1500 on her nightstand in the morning.

Or a devout Christian whose prized (and only valuable) possession is the family Bible. Needs $1500 for a kidney transplant for a child and Lady Slingshot is there cash in hand. L.S. has no attachment, spiritual or other but is willing to use the Bible as kindling if the seller is a day late on a payment that will add stress.

It's a fair position to say that the person is lucky to have an asset that can cover medical expenses and that it is the right choice to live wholly within his means, but it's still a tough decision and a bad outcome.

If you are not in a position to help OP, or are able but unwilling, I respect that but think he deserves sympathy, not scorn. He's seeking a connection to his father through an object of his own sweat equity.

Good Luck, Steve.

I did not contribute to GoFundMe and didn't buy anything, but I did send a request through the contact portal at sylvesterstallone.com for an autographed photo to Steve. If he sends one, I'll pm you for your mailing address.

Good luck.
