Hi guys,

After having my haunted house in storage for a long time and collecting parts I need, I started on the restoration. Along the way I decided to do a multiball conversion and after searching for a while I found a sc-01 speech chip so I could add speech aswell. At first I didn't really wanted the speech because I didn't think It fit the theme as well as on black hole, but after some considerations I though it adds some handy directions on the new rules.

The machine is in pretty bad condition. When I picked it up the backglass looked bad, the moment I touched it to lift it out of the backbox, all the paint fell off. About a year ago I found a very good translite repro. It looks great and it has the lightning bolts perfectly incorporated.

To do the multiball conversion I allready bought the Janin PCB. I also found a lot of parts I need to do the playfield modifications from an old arena playfield.

BUT FIRST
This game is dirty, worn and probably not working. It will need a lot of work to get looking good and probably some new parts. I didn't now where te start: getting it working first, doing all modifications or get it looking good first. I decided to start taking apart the machine and playfield because I didn't want to work on a machine that's so dirty. I figure I could do the easy modifications along the way and see what I need to do before clearcoating it. At least I started

Af first I wanted to film everything I did but because it's already so much work and filming would make it a lot more work I decided not to do it. I might film some work or maybe only post here if people are interested. I will make a lot of pictures anyway

Let me know if you are interested on being updated of want to know anything in particular. Sorry if my English isn't always the best, I try my best.

Greetings,.

Thanks for the link. I looked at it, very nice. I didn't see it before

Thank you Athur, I might take you up on that yes I live nearby. I feel like there aren't a lot of pinheads in the north of the Netherlands, always nice to know someone else in the neighbourhood.

poibug I read that artikel a long time ago when I was deciding whether to do the conversion or not. Great to hear from you, always nice to have some experts here. The speech part still is a little unclear to me so I will probably get in touch with them aswel.

radium Yeah no broken secret passage here but a lot of other broken plastics and such. Yours looks great

Update:
I took apart all the playfield tops. I left most of the underside. It's funny how the top parts of the playfield look very worn and torn but underneath the playfield some things look like new, some coils and assemblies look great.

Today I started with cleaning the main playfield. It had a lot of ball swirls, I have been cleaning and rubbing with magic eraser for hours. Good news is that it has a good layer of paint that you don't go through very fast. Bad news is that the playfield has a lot of pits wich get a lot more noticable when deep cleanin. I think the machine has been played a long time with a very bad ball. Here are some before and after magic eraser pictures, before the before pictures the playfield had been cleaned normally allready.

Still have to do some cleaning and then on to repaint where needed.

I decided to buy a acrylic paint pen to use in this project. I was shocked how well it works and how much easier it is to use for words and insert damage. I think I will never do that with a brush again. This is what I bought and the result:

After this I started with touching up the orange. The artwork is more difficult than I thought but I'm making it work. For straight lines I use a piece of cardboard and paint against it. I've already got about 5 hours in repainting and, although slowly, it's getting there.

Quoted from galaga50:

Ok so if you change the game to multiball, how on earth do you play it with 2 sets of flipper buttons and the balls being in the cellar and the main pf's at the same time??

I have multiple fingers on one hand. Or was the question how the game has to be adjusted to how the playfields "activate"? If from a gameplay standpoint, I think that's what makes the multiball fun

Quoted from CNKay:

I just chatted with a fellow pinsider with a slight HH issue. And he just happens to have done the speech, multiball mod. And is rocking a pascal board to boot.
You should hook up and compare notes. Antennaejim

It's looking good!

Always interested in other peoples multiball HH. There isn't much to find. I would love to see a gameplay video.

I'm still trying to get the machine in decent shape first, still touching up the playfields before clear. And a pistol poker came up I had to get and shop in the mean time

Sorry for being gone this long. I got a job and it took up more engergy than anticipated. Also, I've been putting this off because I was dreading the clearcoating. I hate that job and I don't have the space and time to do it. I hadn't worked on the game for so long it was hard to start again. Then I decided on getting/making a playfield protecter after I'm done touching up. I can't clear it in this weather anyway so I can move on with the rest of the project.

Today I cleaned up the garage and got back into it. I'm looking for a place where I can buy the material to make a playfield protector, I think I found one I just have to do a few last checks. I decided to go with the vivak 0.5mm PET-G.

I'm working on the last playfield with touchup and then I'll start on making the protectors and do the last cleaning and then start rebuilding the playfields.
