I just got my Haunted House up and running and now I want to do a couple of cosmetic mods (electrical mods are done). I really like the lighted flipper buttons and the LED underlighting that maps to it...I also like the skull inserts for the coin doors...

Anyone know where to find those mods to buy or DIY instructions?

Also, I'm not sure how to best light up the lower playfield (bottom one). I've tried some green, some red...Still doesnt look as nice as I think it could...Any suggestions? Thanks

You could do something with the 2 posts at the top left corner after the ball comes out of the shooter lane that area is a little bland. They dont have anything on them and the have holes on the top of them it wouldnt be hard to maybe put a ghost or something on top. But keep it classy cause HH is perfect the way it is.

For the lower playfield, the switched GI that comes from above (8 lamps if memory serves) is not 6vac, but solenoid power. So you are limited to only using the odd bulbs that are in there.

Orrrrrr, you can use the special LED's that Cointaker makes for that use.

Since that post I noticed they are now selling GREEN colors, so no more condoms required.

Then for the rest of the GI down there you can use standard 6vac/dc LEDS.

On my HH:
I put in a green Glowball.
Swapped all upper GI to Orange and Green to color match the plastics.
Swapped all lower GI to green LED.
Swapped all backglass lamps to LED, used a few purple and orange (for nice window glow) in the mansion.
Did all ground mods.
Added a remote battery pack to get the battery off the MPU (make sure to install blocking diode as SYSTEM 80 had a charge circuit for the Nicad).
Added jumper to diode for coin switch to start switch so I add a credit every time I start a game for poor man's Free Play.

Here is Vid's instructions for DIY lighted flipper buttons. I did it on my F-14 and Maverick. I think using the wedge (555) sockets works a little better than the 44 sockets tho.

Harder to do that mod on the older Gottliebs unless you can find some translucent buttons. But doable.

I used one of those fake crows you get from a Halloween store as a topper, and lit it up with leds

Good to know, thanks. Do the Gottlieb's use a different type/size of flipper button?

Yes.

Williams, DE, Sega, Bally/Williams, Stern all use the newer style which are easy to backlight.

However old Gottliebs and old Bally/Stern use buttons that fit into a housing and are a different hole size through the cab. Look at the last 3 parts on this page. You will see he does have red translucent (on of the only selections you will find)

Sounds cool...Would love to see a pic!!

Here is my topper if I ever get around to finishing it. Figured I would pose him sitting with legs dangling over backglass and a small piece of Velcro under his butt to hold him in place.

Lighted sling posts would look cool on this game.

For my flipper and start buttons i drilled holes in the metal backing and positioned led to shine through them. I wired the red to upper pf gi and green to lower pf gi. That way in attract mode they flash. I wired the start button to the gi on the coin mech. I printed some skulls and sized them for my coin slots with tokens printed on them as i run tokens in my game room.

thinking about putting some kewl horror figures in my haunted house pinball and was wondering of some kewl ideas.
I was thinking in the basement using some chains and some type of creature or witch and in the attic using some skeleton figures and on the main Playfield using pumpkins and goblins

At Party City around Halloween time, they sell those rings that kids (and adults) wear. The spider, the bat etc in different colors. They are plastic so they can be cut, trimmed, glued or whatever need be to be set up. I'm sure they have other small Halloween theme items. Usually they get them in late August/early September and are by the cash register. They're inexpensive also.

that does sound cool.haunted house is a great game that could definitely use some neat toys everywhere around the game

I think that the left rear main playfield needed a cool toy in the back corner, like a rubber spider or something like that.

With the new PF's coming out, nice plastics and cab, a clean backglass, and in conjunction with all these mods, HH could easily be one of the coolest looking games out there. The art and PF design is awesome in it's own right, but the title tends to suffer from the wear and tear that occurs with the game's design and being susceptible to damage for decades prior to the HUO culture.

I've been thinking about renovating the metal upper PF ramp with some dollhouse staircase accessories to give it a 3D look.

You'd buy the stairs plain, but staining them dark wood (like a victorian home) wouldn't be too much work. Another option is to paint them a dark blue to match the stairs depicted in the attic's artwork.

I was thinking about affixing the rail posts on the outside of the ramp side walls, between each metal hole, so you look through each post. It might look best to cut them to size as you go up, since the sides of the ramp do get shorter as it goes towards the attic. http://a.co/4EW6z5d or http://a.co/1PrH4zE

They sell this top rail that's already notched and may slide right on top of the side walls, and gluing to the cut-to-sized rails. http://a.co/coeOfrP

And finally, the front posts, I feel you may only need the front two for effect, since the art in the attic shows the top of the stairs. You could get away with slicing a little vertical notch in the posts, and affix them to the front of the ramp walls behind the star post and rubber. http://a.co/cBt0wuZ

At a glance, this does appear to be doable and avoids touching the ball, and I very rarely, if ever, get airballs in my game, or anywhere near the stairs.
