Quoted from JeffA:One of the switches in my "Q" relay (part MA-224) is putting off a nice electric green light show at power up and eventually blows fuses. Checked Steve Young's and Marcos and don't see these switches listed for HH. Any suggestion for where to get the stack or which switch to buy individually?
Did you try Pinball Life or Lakeside? Lakeside sometimes has hard to find switches. If you don't see it on their site, call them. They're great with helping out or may be able to direct you somewhere.
Quoted from davebart5:Welcome Colson! That's a nice looking HH you have there. I can't wait to beat up on it and put something unreachable in the score displays..
Good luck with that......LOL. I'll be setting the high score this weekend, and I'll make sure it's something you can't get close to (unless you use 5 balls).
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Can any one chime in with whether they think I should go with a strip of LEDs or a couple blocks of LEDs to light the secret passage plastic
The guy I bought my HH from put quite a few LED strips in mine...some places where the game was dark (bonus). However, he did use some purple strips (maybe 5050), which aren't really as bright as I'd like them to be. Leaves the PF a little dark unless you're playing in full overhead light. If you go with LED strips, I would use cool or warm white (depending on preference), orange, blue or green. Those are all colors in the game, and anything else may be a little dull or dark.
And as Dave said, I would definitely avoid domed bulbs if you go with singular bulbs vs. strips. Domed bulbs will "point" the light at the tube / passage way to much and possibly create that hotspot you're worried about. I would use no dome 4SMD or 5 SMD bulbs. That will spread the light out nicely. I have some on my website, unless you've already put an order together elsewhere. Pinsiders always get a 15% discount on the LOP website with the promo code "Pinfest2016". Let me know how you make out.
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:I want back into this club. A restored HH is #1 on my wish list. Such a great pin all around.
Agreed there...just rejoined this stellar club with my 4th one yesterday. Hopefully this time it gets bolted to the floor. Daughter loves this pin, and she wasn’t happy when I sold the last one.
As soon as I got home, she came out and said “it’s really dirty.” Not even kidding...came back out with some Novus and started cleaning it. Didn’t even wait for me to get it in the house.

Picked it up as a semi-project. Cab is in excellent shape. PF’s are dirty as hell...apparently it was stored without the PF glass.

BG is totally shot, luckily I have a half decent one hanging in my gameroom in a backlit frame that I can throw in there for now. Better than nothing.

MPU has some corrosion, seller said GI would light but the game wouldn’t boot. No ground mods done, PSB looks a little flaky too. Let the adventure begin! Definitely needs some love...but still psyched to have another one.
Goodie bag w/ manual was still clipped inside the cab though. Very cool.
Gotta love the substituted and “reshaped” Bally Kiss plastic in front of the attic. Anybody have any spare plastics?
A few other ones are chipped and cracked, so if not, looks like I’m ordering a new complete repro set.

I just got it set up in my basement, but my kids are sleeping, so I want to adjust the volume before I turn the game on
The pot is inside the coin door to the right next to the fuse panel.
Back in the club.
Ironically, two weeks after I picked up a project HH (and drove far to get it) my buddy who bought my old one two years ago asked me if I wanted it back.
So....picked my old one back up and sold the project one this past weekend. Forgot how sweet this one is. CPR backglass, Swemmer MPU and driver boards (with ribbon cable, getting rid of that problematic interconnect harness).

Is it just me or is your HH on the wrong legs? Your photo makes it seem on the short side.
The photo of the front of the game does look a little weird. Just the angle of the pic.
But nope. 27” on the front, and I actually kicked it up to 31” on the back to increase the pitch. Here’s a better shot. Same height as the other pins.
B8F85D3B-0B01-4601-9EB4-B3C47032AA73 (resized).jpegThat’s a great first game. Congrats.
I use Novus 1, or CP100 if there’s serious grime or deep ball swirls. Whatever you use has to be something that isn't water-based. Then apply some wax.
Quoted from fatality83:Hoping to have a Haunted House in 2020 some time. The theme just fits in with my game room and I love the sounds and music and everything about it. Can someone give me a price range what these beautiful beasts go for?
Depends on the condition and upgrades. Anywhere from $800 to $1000 for a project game (that most likely needs a ton of work), up to $2500 to $2800 for one that’s in very good to excellent shape.
Quoted from fatality83:I prefer to have playfields in good condition with little to minimal wear.
Like this?

This was my fourth one, and was glad to get it back after two years. Swemmer MPU and driver boards. Love all the LED indicators, even on the chips. And with the ribbon cable, much more reliable than the crappy interconnect harness usually there.
Quoted from Zablon:The unbroken secret passage plastic almost sells it.
If I was closer I would snatch those up in a second.
Quoted from radial_head:Finally, after a year of this game showing up DOA and only now getting it into my place and out of storage to work on it, IT’S ALIVE!!!
Can we rewind to this post? Were you watching Gilmore Girls while working on your HH?
Traded my project HH a few months ago, and was looking forward to getting it together. Damn it. On the hunt for another now.
Quoted from naf_llabnip:Wow what a stunning pair!
Definitely! I posted somewhere else that I think I’ve owned each game 4 or 5 times now, but never at the same time. It is nice to see them side-by-side.

Well done, and it makes me happy to see folks caring for these machines. Long live HH!
Definitely. And when I’m playing I’ll know that it looks better.
Polished some cabinet metal too, this game deserves it. Again, nobody will even see most of this, like the LD bar receiver. But I know it’s clean under there.

Bench polisher. Black compound first, then green. Then white compound with the buffing disc to finish. That will take care of most gritty stuff.
If there is significant rust or oxidation on the parts: soak in Evaporust for 1-2 hours first, then 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper. Then to the polisher. With that chrono, you can usually jump right to green then white on the buffing wheel.
AB73F07B-8A74-49A3-BD8D-13B54A96C172 (resized).jpegQuoted from DanMarino:Colsond3 looks great. Do you put anything over the touch ups to protect the new paint?
Yup. Quick dry clear nail polish on small touch ups.
You have to put something to prevent chipping (especially in HH because the ball repeatedly drops in those same exact areas). On this I might add a small amount of Hi-Tec clearcoat, just because those areas get so much abuse.
Quoted from lilmul123:Has anyone done any mods to brighten it up? I can see why some people would prefer it be dark, but I'd like to be able to see the playfield when the lights are turned off, haha.
Comet sunlight LEDs usually make a huge difference. Get the 2SMD frosted bulbs.
You can also add some light strips under some of the plastics, or maybe a spotlight or two. I’ll be modifying mine as I go through it.
Quoted from lilmul123:Sorry… should’ve been more clear. I don’t mean the lower playfield under the main playfield, I mean the lower half (closer to the player) of the main playfield. My lower playfield is just fine.
I decided on a purple spotlight and I’ll see how that goes.
I would still use sunlight 2SMD LEDs for the GI. I’m not a big fan of too many colored bulbs…they drown out all the beautiful playfield and plastic artwork. And don’t really brighten anything up.
If any, a few strategically placed for accents is usually the way I go. I have a few blue in the lower PF, a few green on the main PF and I’m debating what to do with the upper PF.
Got the metal back. Even polished the metal post caps. Man, OCD when you’re working on games really runs deep.
Came out pretty good. At least much better than what it was.

Quoted from DanMarino:Looking great Colson. So those metal pieces on the edges of the lower playfield are normally plain stainless steel?
Yup. I tried polishing, but they were too oxidized and had some bad pitting.

You should
Although I just sold my BH two months ago. (older photos)

Quoted from ShaunF:I’ve put in Poor man’s stadium lighting on those machines so she can adjust as she needs. Haunted House had the largest effect.
I’m not a big fan of Pinstadiums or that kind of lighting…I don’t like the reflection of the LED strips that they put off. But I will say your HH looks pretty damn good. Definitely makes the playfield much brighter.
Where did you get those apron cards?
Got everything stripped and prelim cleaning done. Insert edges and green areas above the window are going to need some love.
And you have to polish the ball arch.

I’ve always loved the artwork on this pin.

Polished everything, including the ball gates. Main PF is done.
Using my own custom Titan kit, and new orange star posts on the main PF. Sunlight bulbs brighten it up quite a bit. Might add a few LED strips.
But of course I have every other shade of white strips…but sunlight.
