Quoted from DuffysArcade:

Start at the beginning...verify good voltages on the power supply. Check the interconnect cable between the MPU & Driver board. Verify you have sufficient grounds at both boards. I'd bet it's one of these issues.

At the power block in the bottom of the cab I get 4v on the 8v terminal, 20v on the 25v. On the Gulf Power board I’m reading correct values on all the terminals. The interconnect cable reads continuity between the MPU and driver on all pins.

Finally my Haunted House building project has almost come to an end and the game has moved from the workshop to the living room. Just a few minor adjustments needs to be done to some switches.

Phenomenal work!! I went back to the beginning and read through your entire build process. Massive props for building such a complex machine from scratch!! If you do decide to build a BH next, I have a North American version with the rotating backglass, and could help with dimensions/photos. The difficult part on that BG to obtain is the tinted front glass.

#1204 11 months ago

Thanks DuffysArcade ! I jeep that in mind if I decide for a BH game, could use the top from the scrap Mars God of War.
I think I could solve the tinted backglass if I can get good photos of the original.

Yep, you could probably use some window tinting to recreate it.

Epic win!!! Seriously guys, he built this darned thing from the ground up. This definitely would be a potential winner in the "did you hear about some guy who built a (insert crazy insane project) in his garage?" category. This isn't just a Haunted House resurrected from the dead. A new life has been created here folks ... a Pinball miracle I dare say!

A couple weeks ago I spent a day driving to pick up my Haunted House. I had never played one, but wide body, eight flippers and three play fields! It plays, has the usual paint wear, missing 313 lamps, LED's with some green under the green plastics, the usual broken plastics, several over fused circuits, 2 lightning bolts stuck on, Ni-Wumpf boards and modern power supply. I have adjusted a very few things and touched up some paint and 313 lamps on the way. I will do ground mods next since only the new boards have them. I did a couple system 1's so no problem. Will have to figure out the lightning problem-bad transistors? Really like this pin, need to figure out where the points are. I am half way through reading the forum, lots of great info here, thanks!

#1209 11 months ago

Change the power supply line to the 313s on the relay from solenoid power to 5v power on the relay and use bright 5v LEDs for those - see my video in this thread!

#1210 11 months ago

Comet Pinball has 313 LED's, that's what I use.

#1211 11 months ago

Yeah, I went with purple comet 313's. Really adds some fun to the lower level.

A nice upgrade on HH & BH is to rewire the lower PF center sockets to run on 6.3vac GI voltage. then you can experiment with many different color schemes. Never tried purple in HH, but some reds look good around the center window.

If you do that I hope you have it clearly marked and noted that the power was rewired otherwise it would be a headache for anyone working on the machine later expecting it to be the way it was.

#1214 11 months ago

The spiderweb shield in the cellar. I’m sure it’s to prevent the ball from flying up and getting lost on the cabinet, but does anyone not use it? I feel it’s another layer of diffusion that doesn’t show the cellar well. Thoughts?

Nice, but you need to do the updates on your pop bumper boards.

Welcome! Sounds like you have some gremlins to work out, but that is part of the fun, right?!? My 3 nephews (ages 11, 15, 17) just spent a week with me, and 2 of them said HH was their favorite pin in my small 4 machine collection, even over Wonka and WOZ. This machine really strikes a chord with non-pin folk, young or old, absolutely a classic.

looking to find a plastic for Haunted House on the right side of the vuk shown here. Mine is missing, so anything is better than nothing. Thank you

These guys have them.

FYI - I recently had a talk with Steve at PBR. He has no plans to make these again. That being said, get them where you can find them at.

Been working on this one for 2 years off and on - done now!
Completed a Haunted House restore with 3 playfield swaps

Wondering best place to get the green window plastic? Thanks!

#1227 10 months ago

Check ebay

Thanks! They (ebay) just have the display plastics. Looking for the window plastic for the lower playing field

I would get it from here:

https://www.starship-fantasy.com/plastics/HAUNTED-HOUSE-Playfield-Window-Kit

Years ago, CPR did one and it didn't fit so good. I would be fearful of getting a CPR one from any of the resellers since they are such a major player. If Starship - Fantasy says "it will fit"- it will fit.

Need some help HH experts. Just finished my triple playfield swap on my HH
Still ironing out some minor issues
See video (17 secs)

My game lights the basement controlled lamp #1 and gives credit for having knocked down the entire bank of drops, right when I start a game
Is that logic driven by a single switch I may need to adjust?

#1232 10 months ago

Check the relays underneath, sounds like one is stuck.

#1233 10 months ago

Hope all is well with everyone. Looking for a descal for some lower playfield wear. Thanks in advance! JR

#1234 10 months ago

This is the lower of. Just looking for a decal for this area. Thanks in advance! Happy to paypal.

Checked a bunch of vids and all gameplay for HH appears to start with the lower playfield #1 insert already lit.
If so, looks like I don’t have an issue

#1236 10 months ago

Team HH. Anyone know what drives attract mode in HH?
Mine has never gone into attract mode
I read somewhere that one of the relays engages (you can hear it in multiple videos I watched), but that function is not outlined in the manual, and no relays are engaging on mine at idle

Wondering if that is also related to my weak attic VUK?
New ni-wumpf driver board shows error on E2 (solenoid 2) and although the VUK solenoid (solenoid 2) occasionally gets the ball to the attic, it’s not consistent

#1237 10 months ago

For the original MPU, the manual says dip switch 30 turns attract on/off as well as shows in the powerup chart that relays should be clicking on and off during attract.

#1238 10 months ago

Posted this in the tech forum and didn’t get any replies. Any help is appreciated…

Haunted House outhole solenoid isn't energizing. Every thing else plays fine when I manually eject the ball. The out hole switch is fine as it ends a game and resets the lower drops when the ball drains.
In fact as long as the ball is on the out hole switch it cycles through the reset process and stops when I remove the ball - so I know it is good.
Coil Ohms are good, grounding the coil activates it.
Tested Q59 it was good. I replaced it anyway. I can activate the coil from Q59 so I know the wiring is good. I also checked the relevant traces to make sure my soldering was good.
I have continuity from Q59 to the MPU board beyond the connector, so I know the connectors and traces are good to right before U6- 6532-3.
I reseated U4 U5 and U6. All legs looked OK.
Still nothing.
Did I miss anything along the way or is it time for a new 6532 or board repair/new board? I don't have a probe and never used one.
This machine has had the connectors re done recently and the grounding work recommended in pinwiki.

Thanks! Found that in the manual after you posted it
Attract mode now works

#1240 10 months ago

Does the outhole coil work during the self test?

#1241 10 months ago

Dr- posting response from other thread -

I guess I left that out earlier. No, the out hole does not fire during the test. The knocker does not fire either, need to investigate, but I didn't think those would be related. The others fire as expected.

Sol 9 goes through diode 230 then straight to the U6 6532 on the MPU. I had continuity from the other side of the diode to Q59.
The chip pins are marked PA7/15 in the schematics. See bottom line of pic.

However there looks to be a +5V input 'south' of that diode? Maybe I've lost that voltage ?

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png
#1242 10 months ago

Not sure what you are calling a diode, but solenoid #9 goes thru Z30 (7416) pin 11-10. There is a resistor R33 that connects to +5VDC

#1243 10 months ago

What's the 230 in a triangle in the pic?

#1244 10 months ago

That's Z30 a IC chip 7416 hex inverter. A diode has a different symbol, usually a black triangle with a line.

#1246 10 months ago

No problem.

#1247 10 months ago

Swapped chips, outhole works, but other funky behaviors started. So ordering a couple new 6532's. Thx.

#1248 9 months ago

Lasted 2 days and now it's hanging in attract mode and wont play.

Going to try a replacement board. Ni-Wump is OOS. How's the current Rottendog for this board? I need to order from PBL anyway and they have them.

For those of you interested, I just found the perfect topper for HH. The Bradford Exchange sells a plastic haunted house with a ghost that lights up. The house is almost similar to the Backglass and it even has green lights! Go check it out! It’s as if this was made with the pin in mind!

That's awesome...but what the heck is up with this site? It's a set you need to order the 3 parts of the collection for? Annoying...
